My question is... Why is the Kraken giving up so quickly..?
A crew of 7? Firing 19 cannons?

Seems to be 19 more than the Kraken have ... The question is, why do they have such large numbers of crew in the first place?

Because I was using only Chainshot, which is anti-mast weapon and usually doesn't hurt crew. I shot 39 times and ran out of Shot and Powder, then I boarded and used Duel several times. Also, my captain has Fencing and Commanding raised to about 40 This is my strategy to fight Krakens and Ice Demons - usually works very well, however this time Kraken was exceptionally strong.

The mast wasn't destroyed... And they hardly lost any men (to me, this particular Kraken ship's "M-O" is boarding and dueling, you would think). If you were able to defeat, via dueling, the Kraken, successfully, on those odds...
...Then yes it does remind me of my days playing "Pirates!" when I'd take down the whole Fort of Cartagena with just a handful of chaps against 400 enemies by way of my button-mashing fencing skills

salamano - yes, I was able to defeat this particular Kraken by dueling Just leveled up captain with boosted Fencing and Commanding. And I'm playing on Hard. I must admit I was surprised too. After losing Shot and Powder, I had no choice but to duel and that worked. I said in other thread that game becomes too easy if your captain is level 35 or higher.
