Can someone please explain to me what the matrix is and what it can be used for. I am a complete noob at this type of stuff and have no idea what the heck people are talking about when they talk about the matrix on this forum. I hope I'm not just some big idiot who is not understanding something simple. Thanks in advance.

virtualrock - there is a decent description in the game's manual. You can also press the ? button in the game to get a description. You need a Data Port, find a Data Terminal, connect to a node. Then you need to hack the system (Firewall, Access, Root) before you can start to take action from it (connect to other nodes, steal paydata, etc). Start by reviewing the existing help!

Ok thanks but when i download the pay data and disconnect it doesn't download am I doing something wrong?

I know that but wouldn't that mean that it would eliminate the search and download options?

virtualrock - yes, if there is no Paydata than you will not see a Search / Download option. It sounds like you may be attempting the download step and failing your saves. You've clearly got the right idea.
