Here is some suggestions I have come up with.
Shouldn't weapons help with boarding actions? I don't see why arming my crew is going to help with a space blockade all that much but it should definately give me a huge advantage to boarding actions.
My high level military officer who commands a Longbow Carrier with max upgrades seems to have a lot of trouble from even the lowliest opponent. When fighting a boarding action I just went from undamaged hull to 0 in a single round of dueling their captain. I have 160 crew and outnumbered my opponent 3 to 1. How can they destroy my ship so easily after I had pounded theirs to near destruction and then wounded their captain several times?

I believe weapons already factor into the boarding equation
Your strength and warrior skill play a big factor in boarding actions as well (I think).
The hull damage may have been more due to the guns on their ship continuing to fire, and not the boarding action.

They factor in very heavily. Crew Morale, Crew % and the type of upgrades in use all factor in.
I will look into the code. The rapid loss of Hull is possible just bad luck, but I will see about scaling it back on lower difficulties.
However, there are several posts on the forum by Captains who feel that Boarding is the only feasible way to fight -- going to far as to say that repairing Guns isn't worth the work.

That's funny. I rarely take gun damage and find that rolling up to point blank range and killing their engines is the only way to fight that is safe to my ship. I do run the risk of overkill and destroying them before their engines are down but that doesn't hurt me. Its good to know that weapons count in boarding even though its not mentioned in the rules. I stopped taking capture missions because of there were too many instances where I took ridiculous amounts of damage from feeble opponents in a boarding action. Its not all the time but all it took was a few silly senarios. Its like everyone has an a-wing to crash into my conning tower and cause me to crash into the death star all the time. I know that the game is still young and I applaud your great work so far.

I will add a section to the help file with the details of all bonuses for carrying the various cargos around.

I now suspect that some players are not aware of the terrible effects of firing Guns when at Zero Range (ships point down.)
If you fire Guns into a Boarding Action you can hit your own hull. This is worse than Ram!

Oops! That was my favorite tactic in fighting. I should have noticed the enemy ship was usually trying to get away from me instead of firing. I thought they were afraid of me. Instead they were trying to not blow themselves up while retaliating. They probably thought I was a complete psycho!

Oh. That probably explains why the ship of my level 9 bounty hunter got instantly destroyed while boarding. Maybe you should just remove the ability to use guns while boarding, if it really is that much riskier than ramming.
