I've noticed a number of times in my current game that when I demolish a spice den, the spice amount for the colony goes down (ex. 25/11 to 20/11), but the colony RP shown at the bottom does not change. The latest time this happened, I tried demolishing a second spice den to see what happens, and that time the RP value *did* drop by 1 (along with the spice amount). Ie, Colony RP is 13, I demolish one spice den 1, colony RP stays at 13. I demolish a second spice den 1, RP now drops from 13 to 12.
In case it is relevant, these colonies have been under a Trade Alliance for a while (no other politics though).

Sorry, could not reproduce and the code looks correct. When you demolish an upgrade, it regenerates the entire Colony data set.
Possibly what you are seeing is RP to Population relationship, and your demolished Spice Den was over Pop on RP, thus not decreasing the generated RP on demolish.

So you can only have 1 RP per population similar to the CP production? I guess it doesn't happen often for me (except maybe for rychart) but I really need to pay more attention.

1 rp for free, then you need a building to make additional rp possible and population to activate it, just like a factory
Thulun when idle can add their 2rp bonus above this limit, so they can go as high as 3 more than population. Rychart is probably the same, I don't know I haven't used them since I went elite

I was thinking you could go 2 above population with thulun but didn't know about the extra one free RP (well I knew each colony starts with 1 RP, but still thought it needed population to activate), which I think might explain what I've been seeing (it could be that my RP is only decreasing once it goes below population + 3). I'll keep my eye on it to see if that's the case.

Ok I just tested this in a new game and indeed discovered that the rp at the bottom of the colony screen only shows rp that is being used, so any surplus rp generated by the colony is not shown. This is why I wasn't seeing a decrease in rp for the initial demolitions since they were just removing rp that was extra/unused, but further demolitions after that did show a decrease in rp since at that point I am removing rp that is being used.
Also, I confirmed what you said Rico that there is indeed 1 additional "free" rp generated by each colony that does not need population activation, which I had not accounted for before. So thulun and rychart colonies can produce a total rp equal to population + 3, and other colonies can support rp of population + 1.
