Firstly, strike cruiser! Thank you. Thank you!! This monster suits my playstyle like gold.
Haven't played 4x for awhile and wow, how it has grown.
I love sector scan for strategic planning and scouting, but once engaged with the Xeno in a tactical battle it becomes somewhat redundant, I would love to be able to target individual ships with it to provide intelligence to my fleet regarding the scanned enemy that would logically (to my thinking anyway) provide reduced evasion to the scanned enemy.
Or maybe adifferent scanner training specifically for targeting Xenos to debuff? Just a thought anyway.

That's an interesting idea.
Scan will probably either become combat-useful or evolve into the System stats evaluator, which has also been requested.

I would like a feature to get the quality and other info on alien colonies other than using a transport and the invasion command. Make scanning able to do that maybe?

I enjoy scan as it stands, however it needs a use as a combat tool. Either allow it to be used on Xeno colonies to get a quick overview of them, or have it display the Hull points and weapon damage rolls for the Xeno ships.

Scanning, in addition to increasing scan range for the sector scan operation, also increases success in exploration and invasion, and aids in torpedo defense, such as torpedo counterattack chance. So it already provides a combat role.

@starfixer I've never heard that scanning helps torpedo defenses... Do you have a thread you can link about that?

@starfixer I've never heard that scanning helps torpedo defenses... Do you have a thread you can link about that? I don't remember the specific thread, only that Cory Trese was the one who stated it. And he only stated that it increased chance of counterattack occurring with torpedoes. I assumed that scanner would help in other ways regarding torpedo as well.

Depends on if we are talking about Sensor or or the "Scan" training. They're different, disconnected things.

Sensor points in the Designer are the ones that aid in counterattack.

Sensor points in the Designer are the ones that aid in counterattack. Yeah. Sorry, I got confused between sensor and scan. My bad.
