Very nice... What's the difference in-game between FAST & Quick, if I may ask?
Spear is the best little boat I've run across yet - went down with'er like a true Captain too. 37 Gun Salute! (Extended Gun Decks is worth it!)

Cory could you convert it to html and put to wiki? in this way we could have all the time up to date list

Okay I've done the conversion and added into the Wiki. PLEASE don't ask me to make it a table that you are able to sort by different columns ... my level of smarts is limited in this section. www.tresebrothers.com/strpgwiki/tiki-index.php?page=Available+ShipsNOTE this does not mean that the ship list in the Wiki will always be the most up to date. It would all depend on how keen Cory is to manage the Wiki page vs a spreadsheet. I might, however, email Cory with the spreadsheet to html conversion formulas that I used in the spreadsheet so he can do a simple cut and paste as he updates the spreadsheet itself.

What is the "ENG" column in the xls & wiki? The started ships are listed twice with conflicting stats in the xls (wiki only lists the first stats so I assume those are correct).

sorry the sheet has some data i did not mean to publish. ENG is one of those columns.
the second set of starting ships are the "original" ones before the last balancing act and are hidden by the game

I took a wild guess that the 1st lot of starting ships were the correct ones. I didn't have time to validate the numbers at the time, so Cory'll need to confirm - or anyone with a spare 10 minutes can

that is correct, i confirm the first ships are the ones in use. the second set is not loaded by the data engine

Hey Cory - so what's with the Eng column? I thought about omitting it from the Wiki but would probably would have gotten smited for doing so <grin>

From the looks of things, it is a hidden stat that is influenced by the rest of the stats, with torps and guns having the biggest influence, with solar sails having the same if only slightly smaller influence with cargo space being the next rung of the ladder.
I remember Cory once talking about the "visibility" of a ship, with torps, guns, cargo and sails being high on the list of things that increase it, thus it is reasonable to assume that ENG is the base visibility of the ship.

I don't understand why you won't tell us. I don't understand the need to have some things completely unexplained either... I realize I am singing the same tune I've had here, but it still stands. I enjoy and live this game. But some things I just don't get. ENG obviously is some sort of stat. Probably an important one. Something like visibility perhaps, or perhaps a balancing factor, guessing off of what I have seen. Why we cannot know is beyond me and leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Then again I like transparency, especially in games I play. I guess I am weird like that. I get frustrated when things work or don't for no apparent reason. Either I am a superstitious nut, the game is random, or there are hidden factors. Not one of those is good, nor do I overly like any of them. This is a bit of a rant/complain I realize. I apologize, but I suppose it is upsetting to me. Anyhow, I really do thank you for the ship tables. Nice to be able to look over. Also confirms that the royal class is either the best, or at least best for me, which is comforting to know. Now off to keep trying harder difficulties, hoping not to die for some god awful inexplicable reason. At least now I know I'm not crazy and there are odd bits about how it all works. The game.may be out to get me more than I knew...
