Should Kyera the Cleric's talent Smiting Blow give holy damage rather than basic damage? Kyera's talent Banishment is a spell type attack which is suitable for caster builds of the Cleric. However, for light melee builds, Smiting Blow seems a good candidate for holy damage. Fyona the Paladin has the talent Reckoning that deals holy damage (as well as some impressive curses). The only time this would matter is against enemies that are strong or weak against holy (Deathkin, the to-be-released City of the Dead, etc). For reference, Kyera's Talent Table is here and Fyona's Talent Table is here. Thoughts?

It would matter against every enemy.
Since damage will be reduced twice. Once by Armor and a second time by Resistance.

I don't think so. Melee holy dmg is Fyona's thing and it won't synergize with a team of the OG 4. It should stay +physical dmg

It would make sense for Smiting Blow (SB) to cause Holy Damage.
But, as Plunk points out, changing SB's bonus from normal to holy damage would nerf it a bit. As it is, the bonus damage is added to overall damage and goes up against armor soak. If it were changed to holy damage it would become it's own small pool of damage that would be mostly soaked by resistance.
That nerf could be offset by increasing the holy damage bonus, but balancing that seems like a lot of work.
Plus, I just sold a bunch of holy damage bonus gear...

@0b1i0n1a0r1y0 - the best idea would be to get that buff from other characters (Kincaid, Kjartan, etc) or from Gear.
