So I've been playing for a year or so and never really knew what I was doing, I got the basics and was able to hunt down some unlocks but for the life of me i can't get the really long games that I would love. I mean I've got a few very helpful challenges out of the way, doom reaper 1-3 black heart and the w-f~ one. But I just can't seem to survive on anything above demanding. I'm just wondering if my current set up and tactics could work on higher difficulty(this is my first run through with this strategy and it's working great on demanding.)
Current character I started as an Explorer (my fave) currently level 8
Explorer-10 Pilot-20 Negotiate-1 Tactics-9 Stealth-3 Warrior-1 Intimidate-1
I bought the .99 ship builder and made a custom ship that goes like this (bought for 800k purely from exploring) I am 100+ rep on all three syndicate factions and with house thulun. The 2 clans can kiss my ass (legendary crime lord) started with DV
Hull-14 Armor-7 Engines-30 Sails-30 Crew-60 Cargo-111 Guns-26 Torps-0
My upgrades are
Cargo Prow Escape Shuttle Water-fuel tank Wf recycling plant Omni stealth array
Red-0.66 Green-0.00
Basically to start I just upgraded my starting ship with Wf tanks and just explored the Java mining camp until I made 900k and bought that beauty up there. Now i hit spy wars, and explore every once in awhile. It just seems easy, haven't run into a ship that I haven't just gunned down basically instantly. So my question is, will this strategy work on crazy + or am I just a noob waiting to die
Sorry I erased the first post!

Level 8 is still quite new - and things can start to get interesting as you go higher up the character levels because of course the enemy levels increase inline with the game difficulty level. Also, the game is meant to be a little more forgiving for the first 1000 turns or so Explorer class is a great class to make quick money - and Javat is probably the best faction to start with in that case. However exploring becomes less viable during the middle stages of the game, and is downright painful in late-stage (anything over 10,000 turns). One thing to remember is that the higher the game difficulty is, the more diplomatic you need to be. Gunning people down, especially early in the game is extremely iffy with higher difficulty levels, so you'll probably need to get used to surrendering/acknowledging until your pilot skill is above 30 (and your level below 15). Again, maintain a minimum 200% on Pilot and you should be able to kill reasonably successfully in Crazy. Your custom-built ship seems interesting. You've gone the zero torp route, which is a little risky. Torps are not just an offensive weapon, but are often used by good captains as a way to retreat safely from their enemies. "Torp once, then retreat" is a popular motto. Without torps, and with low stealth, you might not be able to evade a rather persistent captain, especially if that captain is much higher level than you. You have an escape shuttle, so that's kind of a nice fallback, but it's an expensive way to retreat

Explorer can rapidly use up Turns while gaining relatively low Xp and high Credits.
I would recommend mixing Contracts into the Exploration schedule to offset that. Going "pure" anything in ST is risky.
You should use Torps -- they're very important. Overall, your strategy can work on Crazy. With a few tweaks, it will work on Insane.
I echo SlayerNz -- you have to be careful who you shoot. Think about the side effects. As you increase the difficulty level, you have to play more sides of the game -- Rumors, Conflicts, Combat, etc. Ignoring one side or the other leaves you vulnerable.

Well i started one on crazy, year 109.50AE have 2 fully upgraded ships, only levEl 5 but with enough xp to take me up over level 10. I started with house thulun, have rank and a trade permit with every faction besides the steel song... really beginning to hate them, terrible planets and diplomancy. I've been keeping it mostly safe, with only one foray into deep space. Survived and came away with a pilot. Other than that I've been rolling slow. I'll be hunting the steel song soon, and probably javat because there diplomancy has been shit as well.
