There is a perfect Indy HTI in the South, and an Indy Refinery in the North. Perfect way to get some steady income. (Mokk starting zone (south central Farm)) I can see that there is a great future in tutorials that provide a map seed! "Pick up this map, play Mok explorer and follow my steps to the exact worlds I name." Oh la la. yes!

1. no. See below for the correct answer. But you can also get a bigger fuel tank, or a bigger cargo bay, or some other upgrade that has fuel storage as part of it. I primarily play Guardian Interceptor, and with 2 large cargo bays, can travel 3 sectors or so between fueling. And with other upgrades and talents, normally use zero fuel on hyperwarp. 2. Never played the Scout Cutter. Um, try it an see?

Also, it's still Alpha UI.
It will look a lot prettier, have more info, etc... AND you will eventually be able to do some upgrades (within your budget), So choose A or B for your ship, but select a smaller ship, upgrade to your liking, etc... all at game creation/start.
Pretty freaking cool

SinoceltIt's been up since almost the beginning of the Alpha. Still needs formatting love, but all the info is there (which is what we cared about at the time).

I'm watching this carefully. Somehow I'm awfully good at picking that one red card out of 4 or 5. me too!

Wow, looks great. Detail on the orbital stations. Hopefully TB's can assist in clarifying. The are in orbit, so not technically on the planet, but you do land on the station. I've noticed that you can't spy in orbit on an orbital station (at least the few I tried). Are there other restrictions or situations regarding Orbital Stations?

OK, good to know. So the Galtak Freighter has a better engine ... or just a less powerful one? (It isn't clear, in game, what improving your engine will give you, either, and the upgrade is so expensive that I haven't tried it yet.) Indicating Fuel Range on the ship selection page would be useful. startraders.gamepedia.com/Starting_Ships

So I'm trying to get in good with the Cadar, and after paying a fine for my petulance and past discretions, I want to do some missions to increase my rep. And I get offered this mission: No description, so I might as well accept it and see what happens! 1. Go to SPACE 2. Tap on MISSIONS button 3. CTD 4. Re-enter game 5. Go to different contact and accept a second mission 6. Go to SPACE 7. Tap on MISSIONS button 8. CTD Crap.

ah, thx for the clarification. Yah, I'm definitely not posting them. I really like the interface of drag and drop with auto-resize on it as well.

To play devil's advocate, I kinda dislike the idea of special traits just because it compels early ships to toss out their pilots to get special ones, or when pilots die much later in the game encourage them to shop outside their faction. Then again, you've probably made some enemies by then... Nevermind, no objections. Hey Craig Rittenhouse , do you get downvoted to hell on Imgur for posting those kinds of pictures too? It's irritating the hell out of me! I just started using IMGUR because postimage.io was down for maintenance. but haven't had any downvotes that I know of. I know some people that randomly look for funny pics on IMGUR, so I'm sure my ST:F map screenshots will get downvotes cuz it's not a singing chipmunk or something...

Sinocelt It happens. I've had a REALLY similar mission from two different contacts as well. I chose not to do mission X from contact A, but when visiting contact B right afterwards, one of the offered missions was mission X. You can make up a story about how someone really wants to have this mission completed or whatnot. As missions increase in quantity, I'm sure you'll see less and less of this happening.

3. It's exciting to hear about talents that will be specific to a particular faction (your ex. above with the Spatial Talent). Honestly was completely unaware of all of these differentiators. I wonder how we can better communicate these differentiators. As not every Alta Mesa gets Spatial, this could easily be taken as randomization and just lost in the shuffle. Maybe each Captain should get 3rd trait based on their Faction. Ah, a trait. My mis-understanding. I didn't know that either. There are so many traits, hadn't even thought of certain factions having certain traits. Yes, I think that the captain should have 1 trait that is unique to their faction (hoping that these traits are super-significant!) Down the road, would be great to have talents as well that are faction specific (ex. ST4X tech tree)

This is the main seed I use: st-v01-40-4-180038349 Although there are different challenges with any map, there are a lot of indie landing zones centrally located (marked in red) to trade between and build up a big bank roll; just about everything is available as an indie zone (tradeway, farm, mining, refinery, etc..). In my case (merchant/spy), I build up enough funds and experience to get to the 'indie zones', and get a bunch of credits, use it to drive missions and acquire trade permits. Whenever I'm short funds, I can restock up if there is a trade war or ban on my faction. As my ship gets customized and spy skills improve, I buy my way into factions through selling intel to contacts. So far I've played Cadar, Thulun, Javat, Zenrin, Moklumnue using the same strategy Thulun starts you just 2 jumps from the 'indie zone' on the right, so my favorite to try out when new features get added (like the storyline), so I can be fairly strong quickly when I try new things out.
