A statistics module, perhaps detailing the number of missions worked for each faction, the types of missions (in case you really want to be an assassin or an escort) and an achievements system for each faction? Maybe with rep bonuses after certain numbers of missions, or consecutive successes. A way to reflect your contract choices, like a ladder within each type, giving hgher pay and increased difficulty only after a certain number of contracts succeed? And also maybe reactions based on those choices. If you are an assassin, then, in civilian or corporate sectors you suffer a heat penalty? Or in particular areas with a lot of technology, if you're a hacker or a thief you suffer a heat penalty. Especially once espionage and the ability to break int buildings or nodes comes into play.
Edit***
Also, locality-based heat. If you run a lot of contracts in a particular zone, or even node online, your heat alters, for good or bad. Also, maybe, once your visibility increases in a zone, gain access to contacts or special contracts.
On a bigger scale, not sure if something like this is in the works, but similar to ST, have a system of alliances and wars with corps and gangs. Potentially setting up corporately funded gang activity, like mars backing or trying to thwart the streets, through infiltrators (faceEx) who try to alter the way things are done from the inside. Maybe even, once you're associated with a faction heavily enough, your actions can trigger or affect thos shifting power balances. Like if you're a knight working heavily for aztec, and take a lot of missions against mars, missions where you're visible at times, mars reacts towards the entire corporation of aztec (after a significant amount of trouble is caused). Or if you're given a contract to assassinate or hack a high level node or official, and fail, thus becoming visible, there are consequences on a bigger scale. Applicable only when you have enough clout in an organization of course.
