Hello. I'm working on the rapid rank II award which has been very difficult for me. Can anybody tell me how XP is earned and/or the best way to get it? Thanks!

There is a dedicated thread. People usually use explorers to get enough reputation fast. I had success with trade war. Just look at the conflict page, find factions having trade war, pick one side and blow up enemies traders. I played Military officer to get rank discounts, but pirate would be probably easier.

Rapid Rank is earned by increasing Reputation and purchasing "Promotions" at the Palace.
I find that the fastest way is with the Military Officer class. Someone will probably post and disagree (and hopefully offer more tips!)

Great thank you for the tips! I recently had a surgery & I have been playing this non stop during all my down time. I'm cheap and rarely purchase games but am glad I paid for the elite version!

If you're going for Rapid Rank II you obviously have achieved Rapid Rank I. The RRII award is really just an extension of what you were doing for 1, but can potentially require a bit of luck. There are numerous ways to get rapid rank. You probably know this already but the most risk-free is Exploring a planet, getting a small pile of artifacts, electronics or weapons, then finding a friendly planet that has a shortage of one of those things. Javat is great for this - Tuscanae-Javat Mining (-2,-5) has a very good planet for newbie explorers (Wild zone Hazard = 4, Explore = 4), so the risk/return is pretty good. Ideally then, the TJM planet Urban Zone will suddenly have a shortage of, say, Electronics. Other options include buying/selling records during a shortage, especially with a Spy War. That's easier in some respects than Explore because you don't need a Trade Permit to get records. However, selling records in a Spy War will cause one faction to like you a lot less than before. Funikso would proably rub his hands in glee and look forward to more killing because of it The third option is just to do a whole pile of achievable missions for one faction. Achievable in the fact that at early stages of the game, Blockades, Surveillance, Capture/Kill missions are all more challenging. If you choose a starting character with high Tactics could definitely do the blockade and surveillance missions, but they can chew up time while you keep attempting the mission until success. The forth option is just go go around destroying merchant ships during a Trade war to boost your RP with one faction. Just changing the topic slightly ... I remember when I first started going for this award, I didn't read it right and thought I needed to be LEVEL 6 in 4 years and 36 weeks. I busted a gut getting the XP needed to level up in time and couldn't figure out why the award wasn't being accepted. It would be great to see an award for fast leveling as well as fast ranking

Fensiko, when you were a little kid, did you play well with others on the playground? >.<

Well, you know. People change. When you are a little kid, you cannot use anti-mater warheads. And you cannot compensate your weak constitution with BFG 9000 .

Thank the Ghodz that over time we grow up and those rules change . . . .. -abs apologizes, and would love to talk more later, but a Javat merchant just entered his sensor-range and he need to say "Hi!", Cadar-style, so he's gotta run......

I must be doing something really wrong for I cannot achieve the described results.
I start as Javat Explorer with a Picky Beggar ship (for increased cargo and crew), land on starting planet, buy 25 water-fuel and all the records they have, deliver the contract and rush to the mining camp. By the time I arrive there I have 13-15 water fuel and 7-9 Explorer skill. How many crew members should I explore the planet with? I tried 7 to 10. Ok, say, I'm loaded with the loot and despatch for urban area. Selling all the stuff makes enough rep to buy 1 or 2 ranks only and it's almost 60.00 AU already! Then I buy around 15 wf, recruit and heal. I tried re-selling arts, weapons and electronics too, rinse and repeat. By the year 61.37 I'm rank 4 at most with ~30 rep. Any suggestions where I go wrong? The exploration and selling always takes a lot of time but I cannot think of any idea to improve. Please help...

Loading and unloading Artifacts and Electronics takes a lot of time and there is nothing you can do about it as far as I know. That is why the Explorer path did not work for me either.

How much rep do I need to buy Rank 6 anyway?

You need 9 Reputation points for each Rank.
On Javat, try exploring Rift Lep. instead of Mining Camp. It's only 2 sectors from Javat Prime.
Selling in bulk takes less time. You can "Cache" the results of your exploration so that you do not have to return to the planet as often.
When you are flush with cash, buy up Records and sell them to Javat.
You can even buy records from traders at Javat and sell them to the prince (just buy/sell the same records at the Javat Prime Exchange.)
Post again and we'll keep trying. The Award can be achieved several ways but Rapid Rank 6 is the biggest Rank challenge in the game, so it's a little bit tricky =0

Rapid Rank 6 is the biggest Rank challenge in the game What about Rapid Rank III (Rank 9)? Even though there isn't an unlock associated with it yet, it is listed (and one of the few I have yet to achieve).
