Hi Fallen At the moment the best 2AP blade I can get in the game has a base damage 21 while the hammer being used has base damage of 31 which is why Vraes is using it. Gaining the 10 point of base damage is worth using a hammer even when Vraes is mastering in blade. PS - great game. not necessarilly better, if vraes is mastering blades but using a hammer then u r sacrificing major accuracy at any stage >ep2 so even at less base damage if ur hitting twice as a much with the sword that u hv skill in then u r dealing more damage than with the hammer Also swords just look cooler

fallen If vraes is the next to get the art treatment please update his hammer art. Fyona s hammer is so much cooler that his looks cartoonist in comparison.

xdesperado - ah, sorry for the confusion. I was speaking only about Gear. LOL no worries you're doing good I'm just giving you a little ribbing is all. As I said before the improvement in loot is incredible so great job. What? You haven't figured out that whatever Vraes specs in, the other ones will be the primary drop choices? Usually better ones, too. Heh, I remember an early run when V got a really nice 2AP 2h spear escaping from the dungeons somewhere before Oskahold, so I dumped my points in spears. Then after killing the big Shaman, here comes this silly guy handing me a nice sword while V holds a store bought spear and shield he got by selling much nicer swords and hammers. I think Kyera had a better hammer from a drop than that spear. It got me to Riven Field though...

I still want to see a Natural Mastery build that allows Vraes to use every weapon in the game. Who cares about accuracy-- just run Ash and Pinning Shot and never worry about ever throwing away the perfect weapon just bc it's not where his points are...
Mastery 10, Stone Skin, and Savage Sweep. Nothing into Phalanx, bc they would be wasted should you find a great 2h.
Any takers? I think I'll start one at some point, so it would be cool if someone else gave it a shot so we could compare notes...

Strength. Mostly Con at first, but I would focus on being able to use the Str based weapons. He will need all the melee accuracy he can get, and I can get Dodge through gear and buffs if I need it.

All my Vraes builds maxed NM ASAP, it's just too darn nice in melee and avoids Thirsty Vraes Syndrome since he hits great with all that uncursable offense and defense. This caused some issues dealing with ranged attacks, but playing games with range worked except for Hardcore where an unlucky spawn of massed archers would butcher Vraes. At least until the PS buff which made even that survivable.

In my tests so far, I don't gain enough by foregoing specialized weapons, tho I do love having NM and SSK for 24 + rounds...
Lemme know your luck.

I didn't forego specializing, except for the first several levels, the idea was that was the best bang for the buck in talents and for Vraes NM is the one. You can always build whatever type of Vraes build you wanted on top of that solid base. Actually, I usually ended up specializing in swords because Lukai's sword ruled all the way back thru Red Hill Keep.

NM is only sweet at level 1. Then you only waste talents on it, that you could spend on Phalanx Shield or Burst of Speed. In my current (hard) group, I've started off by building solid offensive attribute base and solid defensive talents. Worked quite well.
