Thanks for the great analysis, awesome to see. If you're lacking Talents to continually play them during the Exploration or other mini-games, then try to recruit some more specialist crew or officers. We will be adding more result cards to the mini-games as the alpha progresses. We're just adding an all new mini-game for the next update with a set of Talents etc, so we've got to keep moving forward here. At this time, the Captain's profession is focused on direct leadership positions. Doctor is not considered a direct leadership position. What will the new mini game be?

Nice work John Robinson big +1 Bit concerned about the lack of Captain Dummy, hope he's just getting a well earned time out over the spice hall! Totally agree about specialising to get best effect from the mini-games; a strong skills pool, a couple of auto-saves and some talent switch cards can make all the difference, even in a low grade zone. Really good idea for a new talent card, adding +3 to the Hit Card. It makes sense that if you are highly skilled in your job that you should be able to turn some situations to your advantage. You are correct about the exo-scout, at higher levels they get an exploration switch card. Thanks bobc Captain C.T Dummy just finished testing an experimental scout ship, currently resting his head comfortably on the cracked, and smoking control panel. You're a constant help! Glad we're on the same page. Thanks for the info on exo-scout. Interesting; The Doctor has a sidekick (combat medic). The Explorer has a sidekick (exo-scout). I really like these crew pairings especially if you make a sidekick an officer. I wonder at a much later time we might see other Captain's assisted this way. Kinda of like a Batman and Robin thing. Another item just popped up. At startup I immediately dismiss any bullies I find on the crew because of the morale loss, (regardless of their other qualities including officers). It would be an interesting trade off, if the bully raised the Captain's intimidation dice pool, then they might be worth keeping around.

Access to the Black Market. Does this mean the Smuggler Captain will be implemented at the same time? (You knew this fish would hit the bait )

You're a constant help! Glad we're on the same page. Thanks for the info on exo-scout. Interesting; The Doctor has a sidekick (combat medic). The Explorer has a sidekick (exo-scout). Not sure that the "side-kick" comparison always lines up. Doctor and Combat Medic have very different goals to their job. Likewise, where Explorer is good at the Explorer mini-game and fighting Xeno in ship-to-ship combat, the Exo-Scout is good at the Explorer mini-game and fighting Xeno in crew combat (coming soon). You could probably find a lot of parallels -- Spy to E-Tech Engineer to Mechanic Merchant to Tradesman (pending) Commander to Quartermaster (pending) Smuggler to Rogue (pending) Our goal is never to provide overlapping but inferior Jobs, as that would be very little fun. Complementary, adjacent, two sides of the same coin, etc.

My brain must be oatmeal; Engineer? Thanks for the insight on the pending Tradesman etc..

Somehow, y'all survived the wait for Alpha That proves you're tough as nails! As usual, there are a few big blocking issues that make a release impossible right now. We'll get there as fast as we can. This is the cycle of doing major game engine surgery while supporting a community. It's an alpha!

Having played a bit more, I'm a bit confused about why sometimes Patrol Cards for ship encounters show a positive score while a very similar, possibly identical, card has a negative score. grävling, was this one of your issues? I'm going to pay closer attention to this next time I get to play. That might be a while, since my son is home on Spring Break.
