Every time I use it to make a captain I get one that has 0 crew with the profession 'gunner'. Seem to have lots of gunnery points for all that.

Confused. What is the bug report? How does it relate to the screenshot?
Please, 1, 2, 3?

grävling think it's your ship choice that is preventing you from getting gunners as part of starting crew. Pretty sure that regardless of other choices you'll never get them using a Guardian Interceptor.

Confused. What is the bug report? How does it relate to the screenshot? Please, 1, 2, 3? The screenshot is what my template looks like. If I use it, I get a starting crew that does not have any gunners at all. Shouldn't I be getting some?

Ok, thanks for the explaining. I will take a look. The game fills up the crew based on needed Skill values for the ship, sounds like you are getting enough Gunnery without Gunners.

I'd still like to have some. And actually, I start the game shorthanded in gunnery. I am just shorthanded in everything, what with experience set to E.

Don't forget, Crew Dogs give gunnery, so that likely fills it up

Don't forget, Crew Dogs give gunnery, so that likely fills it up No, nothing 'fills it up'. I am going to crew this boat shorthanded, with a gunner deficit (and probably a crew dog and electronics deficit) no matter what. That's the problem. I have to select a boat that is way too difficult for this crew because there is no way to trade-up in this game. If I want a B choice ship, to go boarding with, that's something I have to live with, because my captain needs attributes and skills. And the D and E choices for experience give you the same level 1 crew. Of course, the first order of the day is to replace one of those guns with something that doesn't demand anything from the crew, and get those points back ...

If you take Level D or E, you can expect that on larger ships you aren't going to have enough Skill Pts.

Actually there is no problem if you take an A ship -- the Dragoon Cruiser or the Heavylifter -- due to the larger crew size. You then immediately go bankrupt, because of the larger crew size and the incredible cost of damage, but you don't start out short-handed. It's the Guardian Interceptor that starts you out in this hole ....

It is a system of drawbacks and advantages. The expectation is that you're trading one for the other.

And I misspoke. The problem with the Guardian Interceptor is that you won't have enough crew dogs, electronics and something else no matter how many the game gives you. But gunnery is about the only thing that won't be a problem, even with no gunners ....

We will keep looking at it. Lots of permutations to balance, not all of them will be optimal.
