I was wondering if someone could either tell me what games for the PC are like star trader, or a forum link?
Also is there by chance a game that mixes star trader with nexus: Jupiter incident, like the first few levels of it anyway.

1. Feel free to post about non ST RPG games on here. 2. I am working on a Chrome version of ST RPG 3. 'Star Traders: Faction Wars' is a 4X version of Star Traders that allows the player to control a Faction (a collection of fleets, Captains, contractors, colonies and homeworlds) which has a lot of similar themes to the core design of "Nexus: JI"
Welcome to the Forum =)

freelancer is a game made for the PC that is alot like star trader. It was put out by microsoft some time ago, the official site is still up with a free demo for download. www.microsoft.com/games/freelancer/for some more info here is the wikipedia entry on it: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freelancer_(video_game)IT was interesting in that it had a storyline but you did not have to follow it, and when the story was over you could keep on going.

Cory, how far along in development are you on the Chrome version of the Star Traders game?

If you want a pc game that is a lot like this try the X^3 games. I played X^3 Reunion and it is a fantastic game. 4 races 1 pirate syndicate, independent pirates and aliens. Since it is a pc game you can do more than strpg, naturally, like completely build up an empire ( I would enter enemy sectors with 3 capital battleships, 2 capital carriers, an over a hundred fighters). You can also build your own economic facilities to produce items that you would trade. It is very difficult at first though.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. It is a huge huge huge game. The are about 180 sectors and it can take roughly 10 minutes (real time) to just fly through 1 sector. Also it is such a visually stunning game that unless you have a powerful gaming computer you will need to reduce everything to its lowest level (and even then it still beats 95% of games).

I've always wanted to play the X2 and X3 games. I haven't seen them in the shops at all, but I blame that lack of game selection on the fact that NZ (and even Australia) are effectively the ass-end of the universe when it comes to cool but niche games.

It's an incredible game though and super immersive. For X³ you need to decide if you want Reunion or Terran Conflict. I played Reunion which was incredible but Terran is also supposed to be really good. Oh and Earth is in Terran the other X games don't feature Earth. If you get the opportunity I highly recommend it. And the feel of flying in space and realizing there is no such thing as up or down is so cool.

sss383 -- I am still in prototyping and design, trying to learn how to do Chrome. Porting Star Traders RPG to Chrome technology could be a great way for me to learn about this new WebGL thing. Haha -- worked for Java =)

Sword of the Stars. My digital heroin of choice. You don't have individual captains, but you run the entire faction. 4x game play with real time 3d battles, with per polygon aiming. You can go trade, conquest, or whatever you want. I found ST RPG looking for a SotS equivalent for my droid. The devs responsible for SotS are working on a game called North Star, which pretty much IS ST RPG for the PC. Every body on the Kerberos forums have been drooling in anticipation.

I'd say give Space Rangers 2 a look'see. It's a nice take on a Space Trading game but with a story line behind it. There was another that I used to play, where you ran a Space Company, but for the life of me I can't remember it's name to look it up. It was some time ago now, and a bit of a budget title. I'll add a link for those interested in where I purchased it from: www.gog.com/en/gamecard/space_rangers_2_dominators
