... but I really want to rename my ship and can't find the option anywhere anymore (I did rename a ship some versions ago).
Can anybody tell me where it is now and if I need to be in a specific port or something?

The game is improving so quickly! Great work, wish I could add more than 5 stars to the review.

That would be great for getting a new recruit up to speed, I like it!

Heh, I'm sure it was Buccaneer in an earlier version. Maybe a search and replace gone wild?

I just experienced the same thing. Had about 200 days left on two commissions, left port and they both failed, costing me my letters of marque. I'm pretty sure the date jumped by a few months. Maybe from january to jun?
Life as a privateer just got a lot harder :-(
Edit: Additional info
AoP 0.2.7 Samsung Galaxy S3 (Android 4.1.2) This might be important: country/culture settings are dutch: That means Jan 1st 408 is listed at 1 jan 408 (or 06-01-408 for short) rather than (01-06-408)

Can't wait to see what you have in mind.
And btw, that's my kind of research! I wonder if my wife will go for it when I tell her all that gaming is research that might one day pay off when I make my own game...

I *just* see the bottom of the green marker when I target Bethesda on my Galaxy S3.
I already thought it was funny that "Bethesda" is just barely surviving in the game world, but now that it's not even on the map for the Trese Brothers, that's just hilarious!
Maybe too many visiting captains went "Fus Ro Da!" and blew Bethesda off the map?

At the moment the capture and execute commissions are a bounty hunter's dream:
"There's an enemy hiding from us, so we're hiring you to track him down... He's hiding in the deep sea, at exactly these coordinates!"
It would add more flavor if the destination could be off by 1 or (rarely) 2 units, requiring you to sail around the area searching at each point. So a destination of (43,30) could be correct, but it could also be (42,30) or (44,31).

Right now when looking through "deep sea" and "uncharted reef" commissions you only see the destination map: "East Acadias (2,1)" But that gives you no idea where in that area it is. It could be near a port or waaaaay out in a spot that will have you sail into the wind the whole way.
I'd like to see some indication of where on a map the destination is (if it's not a port).
The nicest option that I can think of right now would be to show the nearest port/city. Something like "... is hiding in the deep sea near Glencoe" or even "... to an uncharted reef [southeast] of Stonehaven".
Another option would be to divide the map into 9 parts again, so it would be "northeast part of the Sea of Acadia" or "central East Acadias"... Which kinda show the weakness of this idea: "east West Acadias"? LOL!
Finally, you could just list the coordinates. Meh, so boring. ;-)

Great request. Let me see what I can do. Maybe it should also include the deep sea destination as a "virtual city" ? Markers for deep sea and "uncharted reef" destinations would be great!

I'd say there are a few useful moments for the warning: - at the encounter screen where you choose to fight or avoid, so you can decide to avoid/flee. - in combat when the last shot is used up. You'd already notice this when the various shooting options disappear, so this one's not essential. - on the world map after combat, since that is the only time you might have run out *and* are in a position to look for a port. - every once in a while when entering a port or trade hall, since that's the perfect time to do something about it.

I think that happens when you sail against (into?) the wind. The game doesn 't slow down the animation speed, but instead speeds up the passing of time and thus ration use.

I experienced the same on my first game. Everything went well on the first guided trade circuit, then one pirate ruined my ship on the second.
Until the manual is expanded, we won't know for certain, but in my personal experience, my ability to avoid or successfully advance/retreat in ship combat grew significantly by investing in the Navigating skill. It's strange that most characters start with a score of 1 in that ability.
Edit: to answer the question in your post's title: I don't think the repairs are too expensive. Ship to ship combat is not something you engage in lightly when repairing is expensive, and I like it that way.
