Remember that most of those Merchants are Star Traders, who don't legally have any Faction citizenship. Trying to put myself in the shoes of a Faction authority: a Trader flying around and “indiscriminately” destroying Merchants seems like a threat to trade, and thus my bottom line. They might also piss off/frighten away the hereditary enemies I happen to be trying to cut a deal with ATM. I’m not going to declare war on the “heinous” pirate ... not unless they engage in a prolonged attack on my faction. But they’re rocking the boat, and they seem to have forgotten it’s my boat. I frown on that. That's when the Military starts shooting on sight, or the Contacts that you are interfering with send Bounty Hunters. Attacking a Merchant, stealing their fuel and cargo, and shattering the Hull leaves you with enough Rep Loss that, assuming 0 Rep before the encounter, you're going to lose access to Starport services, suffer from increased hostility from that Faction's ships, and make it harder to work with their Contacts.

I could see helping the Hunna, or not destroying a Xeno ship after a victory drop Rep will all Factions tho

I'm Thulan. The Thulan are in a trade war with Rychart. I bought crystals from one Thulan planet and sold them on another Thulan planet. I lost reputation with Rychart.
Trade Bans/Wars are targeted at a specific Faction, attempting to reduce their economic strength. Selling to any Exchange of either Faction will cause Rep loss with their enemy.

Maybe Mok starts with a Trade Permit.
"Your uncle was a trusted cargo hauler and a reliable sight on the trade lanes. We hope you will follow his example"

ETA: I'm curious as to how the Zendu bloodline fits into this story. For the Zendu, celibacy is NOT an option, as they MUST pass on their memories. How could Templars spend years on a spear cutter and yet still pass on their legacies? Templars don't all spend years on end onboard starships, and a large enough ship doesn't have the Void Field render everyone infertile. That and the infertility is temporary, if the person spends enough time off of a ship, their bodily functions return to normal.
The Colony Hives and other transports that ferried the Star Traders were generation ships, with only the engineering crew suffering the effects of long space travel.

Anti-Personnel Charges (Rank 5, 16 Init): In Crew Combat during a Salvaging operation, Crippling Grenade attack hits front 3 enemies with 26-50 Damage, and Causes -3 Initiative, +16 Bleeding, -15% Armor
I know Scavenger is not a combat job, but I think it would be interesting if knowledge of salvaging from this job would be able to help hybridized combat officers in Salvage combat.
I like that as a Boarding Talent that deals ongoing damage to Components and Crew

When launching an Interdictor on the Tip of the Spear Flight Plan, it seems to stay out for far longer than it should. I've sent Bombers and Shuttles on 4 turn plans that returned to their hangers before the Interdictor did, even though they were launched after the Interdictor.

I was chasing down a targeted Smuggler, slinging torps at rang 5 and sending a boarding Shuttle their way. During the turn, the Shuttle indicated a successful Boarding attempt, while the enemy Ship showed a successful attempt to Escape combat. Boarding combat commenced, after which the combat was over, as the enemy had escaped.
If I remember correctly, a successful escape should force Boarding attempts to fail, no?

While Salvaging at a Medical Orbital, I drew the Infected Scavengers card, but it is not yet the plague era, it is still the year 216. Val has left, but the Third Century has not yet begun.

When fighting enemy ships to the point of hull collapse, both sides continue to fire weapons after the collapse animation plays. This also seems to make the pause between victory and combat and the post-combat dialog slow down a touch, with a noticeable delay of a couple seconds.
