Excuse me? What're you talking about? I'm on Hydri-Thulon Prime, buddy. Everything's fine. Are you sure you didn't accidentally kill off someone else? To be honest, anyways, why would you kill thulun? We're not at war. This is more of a personal war between Javat and I:/ You brought this on yourselves, anyways. Clan Javat just seems to have a vendetta against me> Oh, are you the guy killing my allies? My most embarrassing death? Was about to fight a merchant... accidentally pressed surrender... literally just afterwards, bounty hunter of the same faction ripped me a new one. That or the time I surrendered to an alien.... no wait THAT IS the most embarrassing death.

You're a lame star trader if you play as Steel Song Clan.......
You're also lame if you don't understand why everyone hates the SSC... seriously, why does everyone hate them?

Thanks Cory for the input. I've got a few follow up questions/comments. 1) Just to clarify on the chance of finding a hive. There is nothing that affects that, including red/green sectors, artifacts, xeno vet. The rate is static regardless of all variables? What about across time, do encounters become more likely later in the game? 2) I still think there may be some advantage to keeping your level at 1. I still have a shot at defeating a ship that is level 7 or 8 when I'm level 1, especially with a fully tricked out ship and the right hold-goods, but defeating a level 70 or 80 ship when I'm at 10 is impossible. Every time I've heard about someone defeating a hive on the forum it's always been at very low levels. 3) This is actually related to the first question, but I just thought of it now. Would my stats in anyway increase my chances of encountering a hive? I'm thinking that mostly Stealth might play a role. Maybe really high stealth would help us approach one unnoticed? That's true. I've seen three hives over my time playing, one at level 2, one art level 6 and I don't remember the last one. But I only defeated the one at level 2.

Is there a way to be a an adventurer/explorer, and lead exploration expeditions on those uncharted islands? The only options I've seen are like harvest, bury treasure, and repair ship... if there isn't, there should be an adventurer class, with the option to lead expeditions on these islands.

I know in the Elite Version you can play as independent, but there's not any difference from that than being in a faction. Could there be like some sort of differences if you choose to be independent? I normally choose to be them, but it'd be cool if there were differences between being in a faction, or an independent captain.

And I always enjoy back story canon or otherwise. I'm a huge d&d nerd and I'm one of the few who puts like a crap ton of history behind my character. It's much more fun if you do that.

I have a feeling my question won't be answered. I'll go through the story I guess, but my main question is; What economy type affects what item's prices?

I've never been able to completely understand what determines prices as a merchant? What economy type affects which items prices? I'm asking about both Star Trades and Age of Pirates.

This is nothing to do with rep loss, but it does have something to do with trading companies... Is there a way to JOIN the trading companies?

Okay so I look, and it says in the creation menu, unlock with Infamous Warrior, but in the unlocks thing, it says that's for Military Sloop? It says that discovering 40 (I think) Uncharted Islands unlocked Pirate Marauder, but in the creation menu, it says that unlocks military sloop! Which award unlocks which?!

It does seem important to have reputation with pirate groups, because as a merchant, they like to come after me and steal my goods. The corsairs are especially annoying, but I have never been attacked by the actual "pirates" faction. I sure hope there is a way to gain reputation with them, that sure would be a load off my keel. I have. Once. Corsairs tend to leave me alone (probably because I usually play as them, if not I'm a buccaneer smuggler). Buccaneers are a worse threat.
