My smuggler turned the corner. I'm mostly trading W/A/E. Have about 600 amassed friends with all factions and can run away from indy or even fight them if I'm careful.

If you want, retitle it ... whatever. Lot of it is just chatter, but this thread has me starring with a gun bunny to a bloody boot, and right now I have a smuggler about to turn the corner even with the fact I can't trade outside out Rychart and Indy world's right now. Damn politics have tried to bury me this game. I have learned a lot from this thread in a short time. I love this game. I will move to insane after in see how long my pirate can live and see my smuggler through as well.

Lipstick lesbian, Batman!! You're right. Rychart Templar is a fantastic ship. I have never noticed it before. I'm thinking about trading in my starting ship for it. I can't do any serious trading right now as 5 of the factions are in an embargo. It's not a bad ship even for pirates .

Gun bunny style requires pilot and tactics. You need to be able to maneuver; requires sails and engines as well. You won't like this, but you want 2x engine to hull ratio (EHR) and sail to hull ratio (SHR). Ie. If your hull is 11, you want sails and engines at 22 or above. That setup throws fuel efficiency out the airlock.
My advice to you is keep your crew down, get the W/F tank upgrade, and keep your pilot very high.
All that said, if the others give you different advice, try their ideas. They helped me and have much more experiance. I still only play on crazy.

I go back in forth between smuggler and merchant class for a non combative. Gun bunny I prefer for combat, but am able to play bloody boots. My current Merchant met his end by an Indy pirate because I was carrying weapons from a shortage. Maybe I'll try a smuggler again.

Does a pacifist merchant have to have pilot skill as high as my standard privateer or should I put more into stealth. I'm thinking to have pilot a bit lower , but stealth higher. Thoughts?
Don't laugh at me!! I normally play a privateer (pirate).

I don't use it because of the smuggler hold. I use it because of the 2x sail and engine. Helps having that to run. The only other upgrade I normally do is the W/F tank on the starting vessel.

Criminal organizations? Black market? You k ow , a safe haven for true pirates (a true pirate preys on anything weak enough it comes across and gives no quarter. Working for a faction makes them a privateer). Black market would allow pirates to sell goods if they have the entire quadrant after them. Smugglers as well , especially if you make a few goods truly illegal, no matter your class. I know , wrong thread. Looking forward to ST2, keep up the good work. You can sleep when you're dead .

I'm always a newb. I helped beta for Kabam on a few of their games, still don't know everything. There is beauty in this game and the other TB games. Fair price for games that have such depth and love the fact you don't have to pay to win, unlike the company I named above lol. The developers actually will communicate with players, fine example is these threads. The developers still update games that are years old, unlike the company I named above lol. I mean really update it, not just the same general shit again. How many developers tell you how the algorithms work? I think you get the idea. I have one major request TB... ST2
