Naming calls. You call your ship the Lost-something-or-other and you are asking the gods to lose you. The link you posted suggested not to name it something of hubris ... Just because Johnny ship bum wants to name his dingy "Rich Man's Yacht of Sexy Women" doesn't mean the foul smelling bum is going to be rich or even allowed near a woman... So... Sigh, I removed that link since I didn't think it was helping. In the world of real sailors, 'Rich Man's Yacht of Sexy Women' would be fine. Indeed, naming your ship after a sexy woman has a long, long history. There are other sailor supserstitions which might make this a bad choice -- mentioning money or wealth in your ship name is not done in certain circles, including where I grew up -- but this is not because of the hubris ban. 'Rich Man's Yacht of Sexy Women' gets a 0 on a scale of 0 to 10 on the sailor's hubris scale. Hubris is to tempt the fates -- so naming your ship things like 'Lightning' and 'Tempest' is considered utterly foolhardly. And if you name your ship "the Lost X", well, "naming calls". The list of things which properly superstitious sailors are not allowed to say onboard ship runs many pages, and most of them are because "naming calls". To name a thing is to cause it to come into being, or manifest itself. It's an invitation. And such an invitation can overcome the charms, prayers, rituals and whatever other magic you have employed to avert such disasters.

I kicked all the Loyal People off the boat, and things run much more smoothly. They may have had less of a chance to run, but boy did they complain a lot ....

I think it's an ill-omened name. Getting Lost in Space is a real possibility, and 'naming calls'.

so not a nice trait now. hee hee. Is Driven bugged as well? In addition to being Loyal, Kala Ravo the Officer is Driven. Driven says: Morale will never drop below 50, and there she is with a morale of 40.
(I edited my note as you were replying.)

Can you check the loyal trait? I think it is bugged. Every time I hit the spice halls, these 4 people are at 40 morale. Those 'Y's I have inserted after their name? Means they have a nice trait of some sort. Each of these has the trait Loyal. The Officer does as well, I just don't annotate officers for Loyalty, as they won't run. If I have any more crew with the trait Loyal, the trait is one of their hidden ones. I have other crew with different nice traits -- but while they need occasional spicing, they aren't bankrupting me in the Spice Halls like this set. These 4 can get depressed going 6 AU between 2 Zenrin planets in a quad with danger of 4. I think there is something in the trait code which is setting their morale to 40. In addition to being Loyal, Kala Ravo the Officer is Driven. Driven says: Morale will never drop below 50, and there she is with a morale of 40.

Trying selling off all the cargo before doing the upgrade. Oh yes, that worked great. I just wanted to report the bug.

Overheard in the spice hall: You people have no idea what a bitter, grudge-filled person I was when I was younger. When I look back on how I used to behave, I cringe!

The advantage of delivering him to the security team isn't mentioned. I assume it is faster, and that should be mentioned in the second choice. Do either of these methods hold a greater or lesser chance that he will escape or be rescued? Is there some reason we shouldn't go the pomp-filled route? s/eagerly await/argue over the best procedure for accepting the delivery of a prisoner/ <-- or something, that leads to you having to make a choice.

I'm in a Guardian Interceptor, having killed that starter Xeno. I looted his ship of Biowaste and scrap, because, why not? Repairing the ship and spicing up the poor crew -- he hardly scratched you. How dare you get so upset by this? -- meant that I really didn't get much in the way of starter missions. I spent the time in port. But that's ok, I have the xeno salvage money. And my plan is to replace one of the 2 cargo holds I start with with a luxury apartment and get serious in the diplomatic service business. Here's my cargo hold. 10/50 as shown. But when I try to replace one of the two holds, which should mean I am now 10/25, the game thinks that the cargo I have won't fit, and wants to throw away the 10 units of stuff I have.
