En1gma, mrsarfaWith the recent discussion of all melee groups in the group feedback and advice thread I would like to initiate a forum challenge Difficulty Nightmare, Highest Score with a melee team until death Rules: 1.) The only talents that can be leveled up are melee attacks, ranged curses (not cursing attacks, sorry selen), heals, decurse, and buffs *Exception: Darting Steel is allowed2.) On the escape from redhill you can use any talent after that honor system to not use ranged attacks, although without lvling them it will become moot if you survive long enough anyways 3.) Screen shot your talent page and score upon death or when you feel like bragging *I just wanted to add you can use any character you want even KJ and Tam. You just can't lvl there sorcery//bows and ranged dmg abilities, but if you like KJ's curse and buff set you can run him as pure conjurer And you would have to limit using Tam to torrent of steel...which would be crazy, but hey you could do it if you wanted.Rewards: Bragging rights and discovering new strategies to play HOS Anyone interested?

Lol I'm terrible at nightmare! I'll try it out, but I'm sure I'll get crushed before Oskahold

En1gma welcome to the crazy party. My tips for nightmare: 1.) Keep in mind that you are trying to beat a +4 lvl curve. Early in the game it is important to focus each character in relatively one maybe 2 areas and focus all of the character, skills/attributes/and talents towards that. 2.) Always always always get your chosen weapon skills up to 16 as fast as possible. Limit conjuring skill point investment to max# of targets. Buffs and curses can be recast. basically with the exception of sacrafice, if it is not adding dice or max targets, don't invest in it 3.) Dex and Con beat Int (Exception 2-handed vraes focused in stone skin with major healing back up) 4.) Camp. Never push it with low sp. Group average below 1/3 sp...camp. know a big fight or scripted (boss) is next. If not topped off - pre buff cost. Camp 5.) Tactical retreat is your friend. Advance to the rear and around corners 6.) Don't Over kill or over curse 7.) heal early and often 8.) Think. take it slow. Its a turn based game.

Lol Thurgrim has over 100 hp... This is going to get messy quick He's down, I'm going to bed to rethink my strategy... Maybe Kyera would have a better chance at this than Fyona... I can tell that -ap curse is going to be handy.

Tempting, if only I hadn't let my team on my Mac get killed in the ambush going into Nordhall. It would have been the perfect team for this. Otherwise I don't know if I have time to start another one. Is there any kind of time limit to this whole thing?

Meh. I'm likely not going to play this one very often- I'm still stomping my way for the first time through E2. I really want to finish the available content before I commit to moving up to Nightmare... I'll play it, of course, but I won't be able to keep up at the same pace as everyone on a timeline.

well consider it a general standing challenge to do melee only nightmare. My group is at 8mil ++ atm lets see how long it can last fighting point blank

CdrPlatypus - Challenge accepted. I haven't yet tried the game on nightmare, so it might take me a while to overcome the learning curve, but I'll keep your advice in mind and get there eventually. This should be fun.

Lol. I just died my first time trying to escape from Red Hill. I got greedy and sent Selen to take out the archers in front of the Bridge while Kincaid handled the dogs, but the Orcin decided that Selen was the tastier target and killed her in two blows. I knew it was a risk when I moved her there, but, like I said, I got greedy. Lesson learned. So, as of this moment, my highest score is 888,980!

mrsarfa ouch I've done that. Tip for the bridge fight never let anyone get ahead of your tank. Everytime I've tried it on nightmare the orcin has squashed who ever got out front. I let him come to me, pop a potion or two if I have to from the archer dmg and kill them last (for that fight specifically). Sadly she cannot neo-tank until several levels later. Better luck next time.

Currently at 4.5 million in Krellin Deeps, just before Oskahold. So far, it's been pretty smooth and not that difficult. Hopefully, I didn't just jinx it. Keep you all posted.

mrsarfa - I just fought my way out of Krellin Deeps at 4.43m. Most deaths in Nightmare come from a drop in discipline. Don't play if you're tired or in a rush, take a break, play another group. That's my secret
