Lol, I like a challenge, but no curses is nuts I'll give it some thought, maybe there's a way to do it...

Kincaid runs Crippling Strikes, FU, Flashing Blades, Footwork. Vincent runs Thundering Blades, Charged Speed, Storm Strike, and Sundering. Fyona goes ZS, CD, Shield of Cortias, Reck., Devotion. Selen runs PB, QsD, DoS, Frenzied. Hit rates are awful, but if you can land with Flashing and Crippling, maybe dual accuracy buffs can help out somewhat. Unless those aren't allowed, then good luck getting to Oskahold

Lol, I like a challenge, but no curses is nuts I'll give it some thought, maybe there's a way to do it... CS,FU for acc and ap removal, cs -dmg will be crucial too. SoC and RF for resilience (they are self target). All self buffs and buffing attacks, and melee empowered attacks are fair game. The real challenge is getting to Reckoning. No TBs or strickening though, cause they have range.

Did you mean no TK? Thundering Blades is self targeting...

Did you mean no TK? Thundering Blades is self targeting... Thundering blades says range 6 on the character tables here on the forum... Edit: game says 6 range too.

I've got my All-Melee Ironman group just short of the Great Shaman --
Kincaid (Sure Parry and a mix of the rest of his buffs, no empowered attacks -- Attributes => 100% Constitution, Skills => 100% Blades) Vincent (Flash Freeze 5 [9 box] and a mix Thundering Blades / Charged Speed, no empowered attacks -- Attributes => 100% Constitution, Skills => mostly Blades but enough to hit 6 targets with Flash Freeze) Fyona (Blessed Aura 4, Shield of Cortias 2, Strickening 2, no empowered attacks -- Attributes => 100% Constitution, Skills => mostly Hammers, enough to get easy AoE for shield and lore) Selen (Punishing Blades 3, Quicksilver Defense 3, Dance of Shadows 1 -- Attributes => 100% Constitution, Skills => 100% Blades)
This team has hit a rough patch on the final fights up to the shaman. They seem to get stuck around clumps of really slow to kill melee targets (3 great shamans + 2 giant rats) while more nasty targets (blade carrying rats) pour in or fire from deep in the enemy territory (archers, more shamans).
Hope that the difficulty breaks after these next fights. I have 2 more to go before the Great Shaman himself.
Still 0 deaths.

fallen, I did a little necro digging to find my own posts at this point. Apparently you weren't the only one struggling, but it is possible. In another post I said I had Selen double wielding with high Acc blades to get hits. Without much for empowered attacks you don't have much choice. Ok, Mighty Melee made it through the Ratkin Shaman and are now in the Torrent Watershed at 45 mil. The last fights before the shaman were terrible and I really missed having no ranged attacks there. Twice the mobs got bottled up and wouldn't advance towards me and I was forced to double pull the last two groups. I actually went up to town in the middle of that fight just to conserve pots. The last group bottled up and I had to send Kincaid in by himself to kill a skirmisher under heavy fire. The Shaman fight wasn't terribly exciting. It took forever to kill the Deathkin and Shaman because nobody could land good hits. Neither could they so it wasn't like we were in danger of dying, but it was like "there's another round where combined we did a whooping 30 damage." This team is not so exciting, but I'm hoping that some flanking unity will perk them up a bit. I'm not sure what to do with Vincent. He's at 3 Frigid Air and 5 Flash Freeze. FA doesn't seem to be helping a lot right now, so I could boost that. The next level of FF gives me -2 AP and one more -Dodge. Then I could also put some into Thundering Blades but without significant investment it's only giving me accuracy help and that not very quickly either. Still it's kind of fun to be all melee. I'm really wanting to get Vincent in on the action, and he gets a surprising amount of clean-up kills, but it would be fun to see him become more of a real force.

fallen My suggestion here is to dial back the Constitution, getting strength/dexterity helps with hits and in the case of dex, with damage avoidance. With crafted armour and shields you can easily get 150 hp on Fyona and Kincaid should not really be getting hit with Sure Parry available. I’m thinking the best solution would be straight Strickening with Fyona, getting dodge down and making hits count, craft +2 parry and dodge armour for Kincaid and +3 parry and dodge knives (just for the stat boost, obviously this is a melee only challenge so don’t use them). 1 in Flash Freeze for AP reduction on big targets and then straight Thundering Blades to take advantage of Strickening. Same build you got for Selen, gearing her up to be a second tank sometime around the storerooms. The trickiest part to melee groups is getting the tanks down fast so the archers have to move forward into you and not get free shots.

The 3 big tank bottlenecks. I think I might try the route you've suggested if I go through it again. I have had 2 occurrences where I was very close to death even with the high Con, so you have to make the argument that if one of those hits had missed instead of connecting, you'd have made up the +HP from Con already. Am I being a fool for refusing to craft yet?

fallen lol no crafting yet? There are some great early crafts that really make the beginning more bearable. I have just finished the temple of the 13 and I have 10 Bloodstones and I have crafted 5 things so far. I find crafting has arguably the biggest impact early game because the dice pools are still pretty small so you are getting a lot of value out of adding 2-3 dice.

Not sure why I got nuts about it (kind of like Constitution) ... I was just planning to hoard them all until later? Ironman makes me crazy.

My only excuse is that Ironman makes me crazy lol. Of course craft early! Everyone just got their main armor / weapon crafted. I'm out of Bloodstones but I wish I had talked to you a week ago matrim. The amount of +Move Point and +SP Drain I just got is going to be a life changer. Le sigh. I'm not even good at my own game And now, by the pit, Vincent just took down a giant rat. Lolz
