Cultists are worse than Krete.
They're also some of the most fun to fight.
I love cutting down swathes of them in a battle.
Haven't got to them yet this play through... but the spiders that create more spiders are bloody awful.
They caused me much hurt last time I played HoS

I withdraw my previous statement. Level 33 deathkin is a friggin' beast. x.x +1 careless RIP… I /though/ to entrench deeper into the passage, but I could have not imagined the beast swinging of 300++ damage in a round. And it had two rounds to go. Damn. Took almost seven turns to bring it down. Parry, parry, even parrying arrows, cursed creature. And Holy weaknes doesn't help, when you can't hit it.

Having replayed the smith God levels, I'm not sure I agree with myself anymore. Spiders temple seemed easier 2nd time around (still a challenge but not sure most difficult in Ep2). Seems to be fewer replicating spiders and none of those almost invisible black spiders that were originally in it. Very nicely balanced levels. Was a lot of fun... probably my favourite stages.

Seriously though- screw the Krete. I hate them so much... Last night, I double pulled them in the outpost, and got about 8 archers. They are so OP, and are the one reason I won't play on higher difficulties. How people can fight them on NMI is completely beyond me.
/Rant over. Damn it.

Just got out of underswamps. Krete… no problem. Advance to the rear, keep Vraes to soak the damage… When they run in close, curse and kill.

The skeleton archers are doing a number on me.
Not individually, but they're clumped so close together that frequently I trip off multiple mobs at once.
When they all shoot arrows at the same person in one turn the results are not pleasant?
The spear and sword skeleton.dudes don't faze me but get enough missile and magic undead units and if they all go after Fyona I'm toast.
I need to improve my dodge and resistance. No melee troops cause much damage anymore but missile troops do.

Just put in a vote for the ratkin. Krete have always been super easy for me as all my teams have either a dodge tank or ps vraes. Rats just seem to have really high acc. Im only half way though ep2 so i havent done the underforge. I hear they have really scarry hi acc to. For me ep1 act1 and the storerooms are by far the hardest part of the game.

I'm changing my vote to ratkin too. I think they scale really well. Some of the ratkin in the CoD are crazy hard.

That blasted Ice Claw tribe is pretty nasty. I find that the Orcin Shamans near the Storm Brothers are very hard. Even with 1 AP left they can heal and summon a Winter Spirit! It's strange, I found that stage to be the easiest quest I've done in the game. Those winter spirits, whereas they can take a few hits, don't ever land a hit themselves... they're just cannon fodder. What I'm encountering in CoD is far worse. (Skeletons at least... the ghouls are pretty useless... they take a few hits but can't hit back) One weird thing about the ghoul lords... they seem to either always summon or always heal.. they never alternate. Is that by design? The self healing ones are tougher because I need to put 3 or more heroes on him at once or he heals quicker than I hurt him.

Also a delicious flakey white fish served with chips...
... that comes back to life and tries to kill you.

Man, I am getting my rear handed to me by the orcs trying to rescue the son. My second try on the game, bought Vincent and selen and episode 2, finished episode one with 3 deaths which I thought was pretty good, had trouble with Keefe and cultists but never felt discouraged, just challenged. Now I've died about 50 times in a row and am no closer to a solution. I'm about to either start over again and make some different choices or throw my kindle in the fire and open a bottle of bourbon.

nednederlander, Welcome to the party! It's always nice to have new faces on the forum, and I'm sorry to hear that you're dying so much... Don't burn the Kindle- the best part of this game is making new and improved parties to withstand the trials and tribulations of your first walkthroughs. One way to bypass a ton of time is with the IAP they put out to respec your characters- It might seem pricey, but I'm getting my money's worth on the Boost-In alone. Good luck beating the Orcin, and if you need new build ideas be sure to check out the Group Build Feedback and Advice Thread in the Tips and Techniques section. Happy hunting!
