Man, I am getting my rear handed to me by the orcs trying to rescue the son. My second try on the game, bought Vincent and selen and episode 2, finished episode one with 3 deaths which I thought was pretty good, had trouble with Keefe and cultists but never felt discouraged, just challenged. Now I've died about 50 times in a row and am no closer to a solution. I'm about to either start over again and make some different choices or throw my kindle in the fire and open a bottle of bourbon. - can you share what is getting you killed on the Orcin? I am sure we can lend some build advice that will help you tackle them. For example, do you have a -AP or -Damage curse? Orcin at full AP can dish out a huge amount of damage. Are you letting their Shamans curse you and not dispelling the curse? The -Armor or curses that reduce your defense can get you killed in a big hurry. |

I don't know what an IAP is?
Basically I've been building up the attack spells and swings and with the armor of the orcs Vraes is basically useless with his level 10 damage attack. If I start over I'll use the accuracy one and the punishing one, I think. I don't have any -AP or -damage spells. Another change if I start over.
So when the orcs all appear I run to an area where my rear is covered and Selen and Vraes are up front and only 2 orcs can attack, plus the magic ones and the javelin throwers. But then this main armored orcin does 3 attacks and each one is over 200 hp and I die. Can't even survive 2 rounds to decide which incantations and spells I should use.
I'll have to dig around this place. Looks like there could be a lot of help. Glad I found it!

nednederlander - you'll definitely find a ton of advice here on the forum. One thing to help Vraes is to travel on to the next town - Reis Lodge, where you can buy him some heavy armor. That will help him soak up more of the damage. Have you taken any buffs (Stone Skin, Phalanx Shield) or curses (Kyera starts with Ethereal Anguish which is -AP, a number of characters can easily get access to -Dmg curses). What difficulty are you playing on?

IAP is in-application purchases.
Also, Vraes with Ferocity is a beast >.< Only Tamilin can match him in pure damage.
And for your issue - don't neglect support spells. Both Kyera and Selen can reduce oppenents' AP pool, preventing them from attacking you more than once in a round.

nednederlanderKyera's Etheral Anquish is a great choice but will not cover a 3x3 block until rank 10. If you are using Vincent take a look at Flash Freeze(6) which reaches -2 AP 3x3 block at rank 6. Also Frigid Air(10) can reduce ranged/melee damage by up to -72. Click here to view his table. The Respec IAP is worth every penny. But you will find "moon stones" during regular play, for every 20 moon stones you find you can completely reconfigure 1 character.

Kincaid - Crippling Strikes
Vincent - Flash Freeze
Kyera - Ethereal Anguish
Fyona - Reckoning
Selen - Pining Strike
But it sounds like you haven't invested enough into defense. Let me lit out modes of defense. There are a bunch of ways to work defense
Damage avoidance
Melee only
+Parry (from talent, equipment, weapon skills)
Ranged only
+Evasion (from equipment only)
Both
+Dodge (from talent, equipment, dexterity attribute, knowledge attribute only for magic)
-Accuracy curse
-AP curse
Damage absorption
+HP (from talent, equipment, constitution attribute)
Damage reduction
Physical
+Toughness (from constitution)
+Armor (from talent, equipment)
Magical
+Resistance (From will)
+Elemental Resist (From talent , equipment)
Both
-Damage curse
Damage recovery
-Healing spells
-Potions

How have I never considered anguish? This time I used healing potions so Kyera could take an AP from everyone and I beat those great green sons of...
Now I wish I had built that spell up a bit. Thanks for the tips, I need to peruse more of these threads.

For me its the cultists, the long range one's always seem to target Vincent. He's not tough enough yet to take that kind of a beating.

nednederlander - if you go to Amazon App Store and your list of installed apps, you see Heroes of Steel? There should be an update button. Officer Genious and others - can someone provide Amazon advice?
