So with low Stealth and Intimidation my success is probably too "weak" to earn any experience?

Ha ... finally Fenikso finds a reason to add a point to Stealth ... not enough of a reason given he spends most of his time ship-hunting instead of mere blockading

From a mathematical standpoint, you could do it with any combination of Skills, Crew and Ship. The equation favors players who bring all three to the roll.

slayernz - Actually, my new Captain, who is a Spy, will find some of use of it . @cory - I understand that it is combination of more factors. I am trying it with my Pirate. It is turn 16495, she has Tactics 117, Intimidation 25. Fast and Quick ship in perfect condition, fanatical crew, 80 Weapons in cargo bay. I am blockading Zu Chong-Zhi which is Economy 17, Secure 15 world. Cadars are at Solar War. I am getting something between $2000 and $3000 from the ships flying around each turn. But I am still not getting any experience from it. So please, what am I doing wrong? Should I have much higher Intimidation for that? Am I bad at blockading in general? I am trying to understand it before I start my Zealot and Spy in an epic scale .

I've been playing the spy character ... but haven't really changed my gaming style because of it. what's a Spy meant to be doing most of the time? Surely he should get all the best rumors, get heads-ups on the upcoming factional disputes, and give you XP for surveillance activities regardless of spy war I only chose spy at the beginning because he came with goodies I could sell to start my nest-egg for "I wanna Javat Cutter fund"

@cory - I am still looking for the answer to my question in #18 if you would be so kind. I would especially like to know what is the supposed ratio for good success in blockading in regards to Tactics and Intimidation, so I can try it a bit. It bothers me that I am not able to grasp the new mechanics.

the mechanics didn't change at all. I moved the XP check down 4 lines, that's all

Really? So now I am CONFUSED . I am 100% sure that before the update I have tried blockading and I got the same rate of success and money, but circa 1 XP for every attempt. As I recall that was the drive for the change. I may have backup of that version somewhere as I have been doing some ROM swapping on my phone last few days. Now if I go blockading, things seems the same, apart from not getting XP at all. Even under Solar war. I thought that this was the only change when reading the changelog so I just went and tried it. But from your answers I got the impression that something else changed under the hood and my usual success in suddenly not good enough to be awarded with XP.

I moved the check for XP inside of the solar war block.
The skills and ratios did not change, but now the Solar War Check has to be passed before the XP check.
Something for the manual, added it to the list.

Oh man. That is what I am trying to tell you from the beginning. It does not work as you describe!
I have found the old backup so I was able to verify it. v3.9.15 - Ten successful blockade attempts. XP goes from 41 to 51. Close the game. Update to v3.9.17. Open the game. v3.9.17 - Ten successful blockade attempts. XP stays 51. No change at all. Blockaded faction (Cadars) are at Solar War with another (Thulun).

That should not even matter, right? You have just said that you did not change any mechanics and only added Solar War check. And I have just tried it with the same character on both old and new versions during the Solar War, so the behavior should be the same, right? Anyway, all the info is in post #18, Level 82 and Impossible.

Hey Cory
Confirmed as a bug - I tested on Crazy, blockaded Steel Song (naturally) who had a solar war with Cadar. 10 blockades = 0XP.
Maaaybe in this case it's different because blockading Steel Song is really just like doing community service. You don't get any real reward for it, but you know you're doing a good thing for society.
