I lol'd Having my starting contract I immediately head for Thulun Prime. Bam I meet a ship, but its just a merchant so I acknowledged and moved on. I move onto Thulun Prime, I meet another ship. Just a smuggler, so I move on. I tried to land on Thulun Prime, bam I meet another ship. This time a pirate from Syndicate Rychard. I managed to escape him, but caught a torpedo in exchange. I landed on Thulun Prime. Since completing the contract would move me back to outer space and I would have to land again, I first head for the Star Dock to repair my sail, which got damaged when the torpedo hit me. Repairing my sail, the game tolds me that my contract expired. Rofl, seriously? Didn't know if I should laugh or cry about this

LOL That's what you get for going Thulun. As for what you should do... Pull a slayernz and hold a grudge against the guilty party forever. Become a Cadar militiaman and take out Rychart and Thulun with extreme prejudice.

Hey guys, sorry I've got to correct myself, before any Solar War takes place. I messed up with the names. My captain is an Independent and was heading to Rinze Mining Camp, not Thulun Prime. But I got to admit, my very first captain was indeed part of House Thulun and he was quite successful. My best captain at the moment is a member of Clan Javat and specializes as Explorer, quite on good terms with any faction beside Rychard and De Valtos, Difficulty Demanding, about 400k credits and Level 11.

What sheff - I don't hold a grudge forever. I forgave Steel Song long ago ... didn't I? baxterr when you buy or sell large volumes of items, or do repairs, significant numbers of weeks can go by. In fact, if you sell a large amount of a restricted item, you might find as many as 40 weeks disappear! This means you need to do your contract before you do any action that commits you to weeks or months in drydock. Before you ask "But why can't I do my contract while my ship is in drydock?" The answer to that, learned friend, is that all contract dealings are done in orbit or deep space. Taking your ship into orbit to undertake the transaction is the safest way to keep the thing you are smuggling safe. "Well then, why can't I do a contract while I am in the middle of a large transaction?" Because your ship is tied up in the ship yard, that's why. Warfies are the same in the quadrant as they once were back on planet Dirt. You can't go take your ship out of dock when you're in the middle of loading (or unloading). And if you try, you'll be penalized the entire quantity of goods, and your ship will be blacklisted. On topic - the best way to get a start in Crazy difficulty is hunt for shortage rumors of something like Metal or Clothes or Monkey brains (oh, I mean Luxury Rations). That is a safe way of getting around and making a quick chunk of cash. Careful shortage hunting will get you to the 100k mark with very little risk

Honestly, I don't even bother playing after something weird like that happens. Just restart. The game hates all the choices you've made in life. Give up. Resign. Die.
And then wreak havok on the game for being a cheaty jerk. Play even more. And more. Prove that you are better than the 300k lines programmed by the admin entities.
Its like crack. So many endorphines, at such a cost, but you keep coming back for more...
How did you do that cory and drew?

That type of start is totally recoverable. It is bad strategy to repair or purchase before taking contracts and executing the first one.

Since when has anyone let a thing like strategy determine decisions? Five minutes in, I'll just restart and hope for a better roll of the dice. 100% success rate plan.

But the reason I am quoting you is because I want to point out to other players that looking for a rumor is your best bet when beginning in crazy mode. I always play House Thulun (moneeeeey) and as soon I start, I go out to the sorrounding area and keep my ears open for that gossip!

The higher difficulties simply require that you play the entire game. You can be successful on Challenging without ever playing Rumors. If you want to win Impossible, play the Rumor game ... the Conflict game ... the Trade Permit game ... you'll need ever trick

I started out on 'Insane' difficulty when I was new just so I could master the game faster. I died many, many times, but at least I got relatively quick feedback whenever I employed a poor strategy.

Well, even on Insane, a good strategy can be fouled by the Random Number God. now that raises the question: which difficulty could be considered the most fair? So that the RNG does not favor either side too much. Or: At which difficulty is it necessary to use strategy which will not be wasted by the RNG?

I've found playing on impossible that no matter what role you play, having strong boarding capabilities is one of the surest ways to survive (along with escape shuttle) against the much stronger enemies encountered.
