Yeah, it is great. I'm thinking that I definitely have to wait until I've got a second soldier to start moving toward the second tact point. Is there any reason I can't just buy one of them instead of an engineer first. But even with using overwatch I still get a lot of times with xenos spawn between the watched area and my soldiers and there are also times when xenos seemingly run right through the area without getting picked up.

contributor - waiting for a second Soldier before pushing out is big. The tutorial is setup to force you to take an Engineer first. Multiple aliens passing through the same OW tiles will allow them to get through. We'll look at spawning points on that level. However, if you want to beat the Turn Counter for that level and get the bonus %, you'll want to move quick

If you are setting up your perimeter too far, you'll get whacked by Xenos on the turn they spawn. Stay closer to the TP.

Yeah, contributor is right on the money with hard being hard. It's cool though, I've been trying to make use of all the talents and have been having a decent time of it. Trying to push to get within the turn limit is artificially increasing difficulty for me in a good way. TA allowed the player to take things as slow as he or she wanted and, especially for seasoned players, that stripped away some of the difficulty. This target mechanic is pretty cool and will keep the maps challenging!

Is the turn target listed somewhere. I finally beat level 2 in 19 turns. I don't know if that's good or bad.

Taking my time playing the second map and hung around long enough to get 2 soldiers as well as the engineer before being defeated. On subsequent attempts, when I recruit via the TP, all 3 are now available in the veterans list which means I can make the first pick a soldier.
If the aim of the tutorial is to force you to start with the engineer then shouldn't the recruit list be flushed if you are defeated?

I hope I wont ruffle any feathers or anything in this post, the intention here is strictly to be taken as constructive criticism.ok enough of the disclaimer It really comes down to semantics,if we say Easy,Hard,Nightmare ect we have to ask for WHO? A/Is it for the player with long experience in TB games, that already knows many of the game mechanics? For the player who has read a thousand posts and guides in these forums and so already has an excellent head start? B/Or are these term refering to a *potential* new member of the TB community that just want to try a new game? (We have to remember that first impressions are critical in new players decision to adopt/like/follow/buy a game. If the answer is yes exclusively to the 1st group then yes these difficulty levels are accurate. In other words are we trying to expand the audience and be more accessible to the masses(that means include the casuals) or are we just serving the hard core fan base.A balance is here is tricky to achieve because the goals are often at odds with each other.

We design and develop games with the intention of using real meaning of difficulty words. Hard should be hard. Does that help? On that metric, Normal and Easy are not so good words We're excited to hear feedback from people, and are willing to modify the difficulty levels if we find that they aren't matching everyone's expectations.

How about a extra difficulty level for when you beat the game on the highest one. In this level all the Xenos would look like bears. Cute, cuddly, vicious, little evil bears

Cory Trese how do you use over watch to "push an offense" ? I don't understand this part of the tutorial.

I was pushing N. with both captain and knight (and engineer) and one of them would always die. How do you deal with those turns when you've got 4-5 xenos coming at you from different directions with just the knight and the engineer with his pea shooter?

contributor grenades and the knight has a melee aoe. Also use the engineers force field buff on both also I would move forward away from xeno's coming from behind. Deal with the ones in front first and plink at the rear ones or manage to out range them completely
