I do apologize. I was just getting really excited at the thought of wiping xenos out completely and felt like sharing my feelings on xenos and spiders

No, I won't post a mushroom-cloud cat! I respect the order ... or is that respecting the odor? "I love the smell of hot napalm in the morning?"
"Nah - give me the metallic smell of a spent Neptune casing any day"
"You can't smell anything within your leviathan suit!"
"I bring the shell casings in with me when I suit up."
So as not to derail ... The scripted segments are really well folded into the game play itself. I can see where some of your HoS scripted sequences came across.
I noticed when you first start, only the airlock is visible - but then you also see a pipe in the north-north-east position about 10 squares away. Is that intentional? It's not an actual objective waypoint as you don't stand over that pipe, and the buddy you are trying to rescue is east of the pipe.

slayernz - I am not sure about the description of these pipes. Screenshot? Thanks - I am glad you are finding the tutorial script to fit well with the level pacing / challenges.

Finished the first level of the tutorial ... I loooooooooooove it. Love love love love the game so far! What made me almost explode with explosive excitement was the research paths though. I almost had kittens who had kittens because of the awesomeness of it all. So many cool paths to research and specialize in. I can see an IAP in the future "100RP for $1" Adding screenshots shortly btw

slayernz - exxxxcellent Glad you love it. We are hard at work perfecting all the different research trees for the next update so that we can let everyone dig into the balancing of it all. We will be sure to publish our IAP design on the fourm well before launch so everyone can review & comment.

I was just wondering, normally "corporal" is a pretty low ranking position who would not be able to give promotions to a captain, which is a higher rank. There's no saying the Templars have to use standard western military rank titles in the same way we do, but it does seem odd to people who know the system. Maybe Colonel Luthor is better?

I finished the assault on the Xeno cruiser! I love the alpha so far. I can't wait to see what happens to the squad next!

Brutus Aurelius - glad you made it through! I will start a thread about "how many hours did it take?" roughly?

Unless Templar ranking are different than we have seen before, isn't it strange that a Corporal, such as Luthor, can give field promotions? I can see that he leads a squad, but why is a rank that is one step above standard soldier promoting people to Captain? Really enjoying the tutorial, shame my total experience is only level 1 and a few turns of level 2 though, I cannot see the end for the heap of dead Templar! It gets difficult pretty quick; glad I'm only playing normal. I thought the dialogue around ranks was a bit clunky. When the scene opens you are calling the comms-guy sir but by the time you meet the soldier you are all about how important the captain is for instilling moral fibre in the troops and you get gifted a captain talent. Would it be worth revising the opening so that you introduce yourself to the comms-guy as a captain so that your role is nailed from the first scene?

You actually get promoted to captain later by the Corporal. So you should probably start out as a Lieutenant. The comms guy, as a sergeant, should not be called "sir" by anybody. He should always be called Sergeant... He should be calling you and the Corporal (er Colonel) "sir."
