There can still be the conflict between the Sergeant and the Corporal. The Corporal (or Colonel) would always outrank the Sergeant, but as a comms Sergeant, he is reporting the orders of somebody higher up than himself (another Colonel, General, Admiral, or ship's Captain depending on structure), so the Corporal/Colonel (or maybe best Major, which between Captain and Colonel) should still listen to him. It wouldn't be the first time a Sergeant gets stuck between two bickering officers. If you want the comms Sergeant to be high-ranking enlisted person he could be a "Chief" (i.e. Chief Master Sergeant).

The background tile-set coloring on level 4 is too close to that of the xenos I think. It can make the skitterings hard to see in particular. Maybe change it a few shades?

As to rankings, as an organization that provides the function of national or multi-national marine corps, the simple fix would be to adopt their ranking system. Here is a list of the grades, titles, and their insignia. Its not as simple as that seeing as they also draw parallels from the Knights Templar. So here is a list of Knights Templar ranks and purposes.
