I tried adding a full condition check for any move outside of trigger zones and it slows the game to such a crawl that it isn't workable. Something like moving a unit takes 10x as long on large complex maps =)
I like trying to see how fast I can get through. I'm typically abandoning TPs. Here's my latest #s on Hard: Level turns/goal Infiltration Site 13/30 Drop Shaft 6/10 Main Temple Complex 16/20 (engineer almost double heated on this one, luckily he's maxing out Willpower) Artifact Vaults 8/15
I'm noticing that unless it's critical to the level, you'll have to abandon TP's at some point. That being said, we're still in Alpha and there are a lot of TP upgrades that will make leaving them alone an ok thing. The Flame Defense is one I really want to see in action. Right now its bugged and give you 20 HP for the TP. Somewhat handy but I want to see a wall of fire and which Xeno will be brave\stupid enough to try and run it.

Yeah, this team went through Phase 2 so they're a bit ahead of the curve I think I could get pretty similar results with my pure P3 groups. Once I've finished Rychart Prime with this team, it might be time for (Hurricane) Charlotte to blow through it on NMI.
