If this is a double post, forgive me.
Am I missing something with the Thulun Cutter? It took a ton of time, and I researched it early because I wanted to see how well a Gravity Driver would work... But going to make a Cutter Class from scratch( because there isn't a canned design) all I have to choose from are Torpedoes.
Help me obi-wan kenadmin, you're my only hope...

Gonna come back to this if you don't mind, Cory Trese... I have tried SO HARD to make a Cutter with a Grav Driver. I just can't make a design worth finalizing and producing until WAYYYYY late in the in game when Reactor 15 makes the insane cost of a Grav weapon feasible... With level 6 and the Heavy Raptor (1800 Mass) and no armor or upgrades yet, I have 700 Mass to play with, which leaves the Cutter essentially an EXTREMELY expensive and FRAGILE glass cannon, with my only options for armor being Reinforced Duranium Cladding = 8 Armor. With Level 4 and Reactor 12, the most basic Grav Cannon, the Heavy Vengeance Cannon (1380 Mass), I'm left with 120 Mass to do nothing with. Only a single craft is able to use the Grav Cannon class of weaponry, so the cost either needs to be cut WAAAAYYYYY back, so the player can make use of them, or at least enable the Strike Cruiser to use them and not the Torpedoes- enough vessels can use them already...

The weight cost? Or the CP cost? or Credits?
As always, we're ready to update the game when it makes sense =)

Thank you so much for hearing me out on this again, first of all. My main issue, Cory Trese, is that the Weight of the Grav Drivers are too much to allow the player to create a viable design before the latest stages of the game. In my examples above, even with the Reactor 15 and the heaviest Grav Cannon (not the Heavy Raptor, the next one...), no ship design is feasible, as no armor can be fitted on the ship- which renders the design useless. Either the Weight of the Grav weaponry needs to be cut back significantly, or we need another ship capable of using them, which is why the Strike Cruiser came to mind... Sorry if my last post wasn't clear on what I was trying to say, and thanks again as always!

but you see they need all that mass to create the gravity gravy, otherwise the rocks it shoots go way to slow. I'll talk to the engineering team but I can already hear the Thulunian architects screaming

Adjusted for next.
It would be a bit premature for me to say "fixed" here, but I've made an improvement I think.

Even a 1/3 reduction in the cost would go a long way in making the weapons useable...
I used to work directing research directives for those guys... They talk a lot, but once you threaten to jettison them out of an airlock- they straighten right up.

They talk a lot, but once you threaten to jettison them out of an airlock- they straighten right up. I switched them over to use the plasma cannon 3AP equation. That dropped the masses by over 40% but increased ... I dunno. It is a complex Excel sheet

That's perfect- I have made several 3AP Plasma setups, so I'm positive I can make these work now... Booyah, when's the update

I agree and disagree.
I do agree that the setup of the research tree makes constructing a Cutter quite awkward. You need to research that research path up to the Ship, a seperate one for the Reactor and yet another one for the weapon to actually use with the ship.
Imho a viable change to be implemented would be to have the smallest Grav Driver (or maybe even an somewhat weaker version than the current Heavy Vengence Gravcannon) available together with the Ship tech.
Otoh I do not agree that you can only make the ship "late game". My 1st Cutter looked like that: Cutter Reactor 10 (3AP/3MP 4000 mass 4 refuel) Gun Barrage Precision Barrage Heavy Vengence Gravcannon (28-61 Dmg) Superior Duranium Cladding (5 Armor, 1 Evade, 1 Stealth) Combat Crew (4+Dmg, 1+Attack, 4% Critical)
So you don't really need Reactor 15. When I rolled out those Ships they were (and still are) absolute dominators, usually 1-shot killing every hostile ship. (my top one from the first version has some 110 kills)
Only the 2nd (and current) version applied reactor 15, the Heavy Raptor (34-69), better armor and better Crew.
