Hey, Cory Trese, fallen, it would be nice if the alien enemies you face could be random. For instance, if I play rinze 32x32 (30 worlds) I face the Red Zorga. And if I play it again, its Red Zorga. It would add to the fun, excitement, and replayability, if the enemies that you face each time you play a map were random. So, as an example, maybe you play a map with a single enemy and its Red Zorga. The next time, maybe its Sidtax. Is this possible?

It isn't impossible. The AI units are path and mesh trained for the maps on which they can appear.
I could produce meshes for all maps and let them be loaded on demand. It will take some time, but I can do it.
You really want this feature?

It would add a lot o replay ability, although whether it would be worth the time compared to working on BF or ST2; i think probably not. But that's just my opinion

Cory Trese, you'll probably think I'm a pain in the butt by coming back to random alien enemies. And it sounds like a lot of work on your part to make it happen. So it probably wouldn't be worth doing for every map, especially with everything else going on. But what about random enemies on one special map? Maybe a small or medium map? It would be soooooooooo much fun. Sorry I'm starting to sound a little like my seven year old begging :-)

Cory Trese, I keep thinking about this thread, because I seem to be facing many of the same enemies, in particular the Sidtax and Nyktos, likely because I prefer maps with a certain set of Xeno to fight. I like the idea that certain Xeno are in each different type of map (Rinze, Delga, Rim) If the Xeno that would be found in each different map area could be randomized (if they aren't already), this would add a ton of re-playability. But why not make a One on One map, and call it something along the lines of a Cage Match? Make it a hallway style map, or whatever suits your fancy, then give the Player and Xeno ample room to grow, scheme, and attack each other. The Xeno can feel very similar sometimes, with much of the nuances that make them unique getting lost on some of the larger maps like the Garden. Give us a map designed to truly face the AI/Strengths/Terror of the various Xeno, and I would be soooo happy.

En1gma, are you talking one on one, as in one faction against one random xeno type? Now that would be intetesting...

No, player with 3 factions against one Xeno type. Sorry for any confusion

Maybe I should make a set of 1 on 1 maps for each Xeno type, and tune the map for that AI =)

I would love to see something like this! I don't think I have actually had the chance to get the Terrox past year 4-5 due to a series of abysmal system rolls (talking a full colonization effort of 3-5 ships below 8 quality...)
To see each AI in their full glory would be amazing. Xeno Homeworlds: Fight them on their own turf... /drools

Maybe I should make a set of 1 on 1 maps for each Xeno type, and tune the map for that AI =) Would that be one map per xeno type, so if you want to battle red zorga you choose one map, and if you want to battle Sidtax you pick another? Or random? Does 'tune' the map for that AI mean putting the factions at a disadvantage?

I know a lot about the AI types, obviously -- I was suggesting that I build a map that plays specifically to their strengths.
The Sidtax, for example, would do very well in long lanes, the Dark Terrox would prefer lots of low quality worlds in big clusters.

I'm scared to see what the Jyeeta could do on a map designed specifically for them... Their ships are absolute tanks. The Jyeeta happen to be the AI I take most seriously, as their ships require a tremendous amount of effort to take down. Cory Trese, what AI are you most proud of (if any), and which one do you think is the absolute most dangerous overall? I just wonder, so I can try and find one of them on a map and see what they do (before you make these tailored maps, that is... [/Fingers crossed])

I like the idea of a series of maps tailored to the strengths of the Xeno which inhabit them.
