I like games that scale. Where you can play "on autopilot" to kill time OR allows you to get really detailed tweaking minutia if you prefer. Turn based games with long term goals that get you trapped in a "I'll play one more turn" cycle. Do you feel that Star Traders is the former or the later?

I suspect "on autopilot", means that he likes playing CASUAL games. <sound of .50 calibre round, entering the breech, and a metallic clunk, as the bolt slides home>. "Duck CdrPlatypus. Incoming towards the "SoupBoy". =)

I think the later part of his statement ... "really detailed tweaking" discounts most games I would categorize as casual.

I suck at tap-quick games where you need a lot of hand-eye co-ordination. In saying that, I love most games ... and yes, I love casual games. Plants vs Zombies and other mindless "let's play this when I only have 5 minutes free" games are good. I love deeper RPG and story-based games but don't like picking them up and only playing them for brief snippets. You can't get immersed in the story and the spell of a game when you only have 5 minutes free.
However - cake - eating. I have to pick a genre. Aaaargh ... I'm a cat. 9 lives = 9 choices right?
If I have time to play - any game that has a decent story and good development has me. That includes RPGs AND strategy games, because if done well, both are just as engrossing as the other. Sandbox games aren't normally as appealing because they lack purpose. Yes, ST RPG is a sandbox game in that the story is a little vague, but that's where the character development and the multiple layers of game play get me.
My biggest problem is that recently I've had no time to play much at all - stoopid work. It means when I do have small periods of downtime, I do end up doing the casual game thing because I don't have the time/energy to commit to absorbing myself into the world of Steel - or even saving the quadrant from Xenos. Stoopid work!

I guess what I'm saying is ideal a game that is simple enough to understand and play casually, but one with lots of parts and depth that you can really tweak the hell out of it to get that slight advantage. I think most TB games are like that. You can play them on an easier level without really thinking, but there is a lot of depth to them, lots of room to fiddle and adjust settings to get things a little better. I think Star Traders has that. HoS has that. Cyber Knights has that as does TA.

I think ST probably has it the best of all, IMO.

Neck and neck, strategy and RPG. Sounds like you'll be creating Cyber Knights 2 next then.

Nah... Legends of Steel, clearly Nah. You just stick to your cooking games, and leave the really tough executive decisions to us sock puppets. After all. We're 'gonna rule the world eventually. Bwa ha ha ha haaaaaaar.

I would like to see CK2 as the next major project. I love the setting of CK, but it is really showing it's age in comparison to the newer TB games. Especially pathing, UI / UX
