I forgot to say, merchandise is allowed, but until you have c10 stealth, it is not advisable to travel with full Aperio through even that one red sector once I bought 50 spice, went through just one red sector and met a pirate of indies. Had to give up. Sounds like you hit a Sector Rumor

Truer words never spoken! I'm using my poor captains' lives to make a trade guide-- that way, I can drag myself around on my own mission! Currently working on reaching lvl 20 on Insane by sitting at lvl 2, upgrading my ship and then hoarding xp to suddenly skyrocket 20 levels. I'd feel cheap if I wasn't worrying about my fuel consumption so much. Good lord that shit ain't no joke. 0.0 I just need to get rank and that Water Fuel Upgrade, I should be okay on that then...

Officer Genious don't forget that in Insane and Impossible, the difficulty of the game keeps going up as turns go by so if you're not investing in your own skills, the difficulty slowly becomes harder and harder. I actually had a really good table that outlined the game difficulty "level" based on turns, however I have no idea where I stuck the file. It's probably in one of my archived archives. Maybe it's in the Hall of Records. They hold everything else.

Fooooooooooound it! The table below shows "GAME Level". That is, the base difficulty level that the game works at based on numbers of turns that have passed. Cory has designed the game to get trickier as you move from early phase (sub-1000 turns) to mid-phase (1000-10000 turns) then end phase (10000+ turns). If you're a level 3 captain playing at turn 400, at Insane difficulty, you're ahead of the game curve. If you're that same level 10 captain playing at turn 5000, the game expects you to be at level 24 and acts accordingly. Turn | Basic | Normal | Challenging | Demanding | Hard | Crazy | Insane | Impossible | 200 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 400 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 2 | 600 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 3 | 800 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 4 | 1000 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 5 | 1200 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 5 | 6 | 1400 | 5 | 6 | 6 | 6 | 6 | 6 | 6 | 7 | 1600 | 6 | 6 | 7 | 7 | 7 | 7 | 7 | 8 | 1800 | 7 | 7 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 9 | 2000 | 8 | 8 | 8 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 9 | 10 | 2500 | 10 | 10 | 11 | 11 | 11 | 11 | 12 | 12 | 3000 | 12 | 13 | 13 | 13 | 13 | 14 | 14 | 15 | 3500 | 14 | 15 | 15 | 15 | 16 | 16 | 17 | 17 | 4000 | 17 | 17 | 17 | 18 | 18 | 19 | 19 | 20 | 4500 | 19 | 19 | 20 | 20 | 20 | 21 | 21 | 22 | 5000 | 21 | 21 | 22 | 22 | 23 | 23 | 24 | 25 | 5500 | 23 | 23 | 24 | 25 | 25 | 26 | 26 | 27 | 6000 | 25 | 26 | 26 | 27 | 27 | 28 | 29 | 30 | 6500 | 27 | 28 | 28 | 29 | 30 | 30 | 31 | 32 | 7000 | 29 | 30 | 31 | 31 | 32 | 33 | 34 | 35 | 7500 | 31 | 32 | 33 | 34 | 34 | 35 | 36 | 37 | 8000 | 34 | 34 | 35 | 36 | 37 | 38 | 39 | 40 | 8500 | 36 | 36 | 37 | 38 | 39 | 40 | 41 | 42 | 9000 | 38 | 39 | 40 | 40 | 41 | 42 | 43 | 45 | 9500 | 40 | 41 | 42 | 43 | 44 | 45 | 46 | 47 | 10000 | 42 | 43 | 44 | 45 | 46 | 47 | 48 | 50 | 11000 | 46 | 47 | 48 | 50 | 51 | 52 | 53 | 55 | 12000 | 51 | 52 | 53 | 54 | 55 | 57 | 58 | 60 | 13000 | 55 | 56 | 57 | 59 | 60 | 61 | 63 | 65 | 14000 | 59 | 60 | 62 | 63 | 65 | 66 | 68 | 70 | 15000 | 63 | 65 | 66 | 68 | 69 | 71 | 73 | 75 |

slayernz, you are AMAZING. I'll use this with my new Insane char as my other one died horribly to mutiny and poverty.

slayernz, I have a question-- you can't see what turn you're on in game, but you can see how many years you've been around for. Is there a translation for turns to years? Cory Trese?

You can see your turn count, but it's not part of the main play interface. You need to go back to the main menu, and open up the roster. Under roster you can look at the captain record and see the number of turns played Each turn played = 1 week of game play There are 52 weeks in a year, so if you don't want to drop out of main game play, Go into any hall of records, and go to "Captain Score" Scroll to the bottom and you'll see "in the x years of your long career, you have owned y number of ships". Multiply x by 52 and you'll have a good indicator of the number of turns played. In one of my captain's I have been playing for 610 years. 610 x 52 = 31720 turns. The game date is actually 667.47AE. That means I've had another 47 weeks on top of the 610 played. Therefore 31720 + 47 = 31767 turns, which by chance matches the screenshot above

Turns played added because it is such a common question in terms of game difficulty support.
Level 90 at 31K turns ... you'll survive. If you've played horribly and are Level 40 at 31K turns you're doomed.

Yeah that captain hasn't been leveling as fast because he was getting lazy. He has 338 XP to use up that he just can't be bothered with

Tried a smuggler on Insane. 1875 turns or so, lvl 11, dead. Couldn't raise my stat ceilings and get my stats up at the same time. ;_;

Who killed you? (That is to decide what you're doing wrong) My Spy survived till 134 AE with his beginning stealth, I just raised his tactics at 40, then pilot at 15... And then quickness until it reached 45... Only after that I increased Stealth (so far it's on 21). I have now played 4316 turns, have 700k bucks... So far I haven't looted or attacked any ship. I wanted to reach an Independent torper though... It is going to be difficult though, because I have between 200 and 700 positive relations

Seems I am quicker than the game. 500 turns ago I was level 25. Now at turn 4656, I am level 33 after increasing my Stealth into 45. According to the table, I should meet captains of lv 21. Interesting feat
