I got a "404 Not Found". Did the Alien(s) kill your Captain through boarding, or zeroing your hull/engines?

I'm pretty sure that the aliens don't play by any different rules. It's just the huge level difference. At 2.8x your level he had a huge advantage. They also randomly role their skill levels so it is possible that he also rolled some really good attributes and had crazy high pilot as well. Brother Dervin killed an alien that was 3.8x his level, but he eventually went down to one that was 3.5x his level and he got more or less dominated by it. It did have 1000 crew, but I would say that his rolled attributes played a big part in it.

He just ran for my face and boarded me to death, 57+ Pilot and 27 Warrior be damned. o.o Seriously, I couldn't control a thing that battle, so low turn limit. :0

I have lost so many promising Captains to the Xeno. One day, well have our revenge, O.G.!

I had 20 intimidate, but with 120 crew it proved to not be enough and my casualties were ridiculously huge even against merchants.

I know that feel, when I saw impossible for the first time, I had the same trouble since then, the highest difficulty I've been on was insane, but want to move up into impossible too. Kind of saw that the best survival starting ship is Aperio Calliga due to the fact that if I stack up only water fuel, I don't need to worry about silly pirates wanting to loot my ship (usually they won't loot even my excessive water fuel) Impossible is fun. I tried doing the military officer route and never made it. So Spy/Zealot or Pirates for me. I almost NEVER survived an alien encounter. Thus, why I always kept spare ships. rabid

Hey. Today was my first try on Impossible. I think I done it the right way xD But an fight against an Lvl 24 Alien ships is a bit too hard for an Pirate Lvl 9. How do you guys play the pirate class?

For Pirate I play as a privateer for Syndicates, attack Clan and Indy Merchants. Hunt rumors for weak/high XP targets like Merchants and Pirate rumors. Pirates do very well against Indy and other Faction's Pirates. Increase Pilot, maximize Guns and Tactics. Upgrade your ship and have a spare. Your main "cruising" ship should have an Escape Shuttle for Xeno. Ram if necessary
