Some Love for Vraes

Great to hear how everyone is using Vraes, and excited that he will get love in the form of new artwork!

And while a Ferocity 8 can decimate enemies, until you actually build to support it, the potential is largely missed for much of the game. SP drain is not available until past mid-game. And sacrifice takes 2 talent points plus Kyera's skill points to max lore and her spirit pool to use. As anrdaemon says, it effectively locks out Kyera from doing much else other than supporting Vraes if one to uses Ferocity even one attack per round.

I honestly don't know...I read your reports of Vraes and am at a loss. I'll restart my Vraes and level him through the late game to get a better feel of how it works in practice rather than speculate more based on paper ideas.

Current plan..dex-based Vraes with phalanx/crushing blow/berserk rage with the plan to respec crushing blow with ferocity as spirit drain opens ...Kjartan for CA, PS, BB, and Firestorm 5 to complement Vraes, Selen for PS and area damage, and Kyera with sacrifice, warders shield, hammers (2nd tank), and EA.

Kyera doesn't need to continually feed Vraes - she has enough time to cast some particularly nasty curses of her own. Tami backs up by killing anything within bow range - and Vraes, like a magnet draws clumps of enemies together, providing Tami with plenty of multi-hit rounds

That means all you have to do is decide between Vincent or KJ ...

Sp drain gear was included earlier with the recent update.

With the recent gear updates +SP gear is available from the start. I've had Vraes on +10% SP fighting through the Ratkin in Ep 1 Act 1.  The tweaks to the gear across Ep 1 are very nice, with a lot of bonus effects being added. The TB have done a quality job there.

Which is not accessible until iOS updates. So, I welcome the news but can only test what I have and assess based on that.

From that statement, all judgements about equipment and gameplay are up in the air. There is a lot of salt to be taken.

No worries. Very excited about the update given this new information to me. Now for the agony. I don't really want to start a new party until it drops but very much want to take Vraes for a spin.

phaze - it may be worth the wait ... did you see the change log? Loot tables got something like 77 new armors, 300+ new weapons, gear re-balance ... Fun!

Updated ring from warm caves is great, have only found 1 SP drain item 2% so far as I'm working to clear the halls from Oskahold but overall loot on Ironman is better than last time I played through so big thumbs up on last update.

Thanks! Hoping to clear some space after the E4 update and do another huge loot drop, maybe doubling the amount of gear in the game.

Sounds great.
Selen level 8 has +14 fire damage just from gear , KJ has +4 fire and +8 dmg from gear, Kincaid has +6 ice and +4 dmg and Kyera has +4 Holy dmg. All their saves have boosts against 1 or more dmg types and overall they look/feel much better geared at this point than my last party was on lower difficulty.
Realize much of it is still up to the RNG gods but adding more quality items to loot drops increases likelihood of actually getting decent stuff and not just potions and autosell items.

Now back to Vraes...give him a ranged attack please maybe range 3-4 javelins or hey rocks...I mean even the Hulk throws rocks

The re-balance actually reduced the effect of RNG in loot drops by just making everything better

Good to know. While I was aware of the new loot changes, it wasn't clear from the the description that the system received a major overhaul. This is much more exciting and ups the ante for starting a new party. Having SP drain items available earlier in the game is fantastically intriguing for impacting the efficiency of characters. On my lead ironman party, I had the strategy and character development pitched to a T for pushing how far I could go between camping. It is a rush to clear entire maps without backtracking.

Very much excited to play the update.

I always appreciate how much work you guys do.
