You may also be able to get away with thinning down B.G. Aurelius and scrapping some ships that are first generation. Enough to break even and we should do fine.
The above plan was actually part of my contingency should a negative policy come into effect. I knew I was riding the line, but we will prevail.

That's the spirit! We just need to nip that spy war, if possible, and get some of our prime colonies idling so they can contribute their CP to the greater good.
This is a ton of fun, haha.

Took a full year, but I did eventually deal with the spy war.
Whomever is up next, everything is ready to go!

I'm so glad it won't be me... johndramey, its all on you I gotta ask, Cory Trese: how did our newly developed ships fare against the Xeno? The Spy War, though onerous, often is a great boon to the Research Tree, so hopefully we can stabilize and get our economy on track. With so many colonies, we must have been generating SO MANY RP, allowing us to focus on filling out the more expensive Research branches-- in particular, I'm happy to hear we can negate Spy Wars with the appropriate treaty.

The new ships fared very, very well against the Xeno. The Class Cannon didn't add much, but balances out the number of attacks for minimal maintenance. They were critical when our treasury was bouncing between negative and positive every turn. We lost only one ship -- a Hummingbird that got caught out of position. We were generating 250+ RP a Turn, but the 4 techs I needed for the Spy War treaty soaked up almost all of it. We do now have access to much higher level Spice Halls which will further our RP generation cause ... assuming we last long enough to build them. The next two players have a big task ahead of them. We need to maintain the battle to the south and expand both existing and new Colonies quickly. Our economy right now is heavily TP-oriented and very vulnerable to politics. Hopefully we can get fallen and johndramey to take turns soon

Good fun! Enjoying the read. Fallen's last post made me chuckle. Wishing I had a device with a Steam account. Here's an overview of the high evasion fighter I mentioned on page 6. The Chaff fighter is an inexpensive, low CP fighter with offensive capabilities. They can be produced rapidly, cost relatively little to maintain, but can still contribute offensively. Here are design guidelines. 1) Highest design level possible/available (This is a cost-effective way to increase hull points). 2) Ship points: 5 or so points each in durability and guns, 1 point to sensors, everything else to Evasion. 3) Captain points: 1 point each to Pilot and Stealth, 3 to repair (this can be lower if supported by repair carriers), the rest to Guns. 4) Choose one of the stronger guns available (e.g., Whirlwind Mark II) and the best 'Close in Defense' module (a higher level version of Blackrock System if possible, these things are inexpensive). 5) No armor. (Or, bend the rule, cheap armor with an evasion bonus.) 6) The least expensive 2ap/4mp fast reactor that will do. When designed correctly, Chaff fighter attacks hit consistently, and they dodge most Xeno attacks. The hull points may be low, but should be sufficient to withstand 1-2 hits from Xeno. Chaff fighters can be produced in greater numbers and more rapidly than more robust designs. Bah, , I wrote more than I intended. You commanders will use the designs you favor as it should be. I present this as a conversation piece.

tenbsmith, now that is my kind of fighter! I love building those kinds of designs. I'm very much a lots-of-small-ships-with-few-heavy-hitters kind of guy. fallen, no need to apologize. Good luck! Leave me with a decent situation, please

Ho, ho! Just read your turn report, fallen. Looks like I'll have quite the economy to work with. Since you christened yourself the Mining Czar, we'll see what the Imperator of War can do.

Exxxxcellent I believe I have left you in a good position to pick up and fight a war against one of the alien enemies!

Oh believe me, Mining Czar, I'll do everything in my power to undo all of the economic gain you've brought us. Our military's thirst for resources will be such that not even your stupendously amazing economic abilities will be able to sate it!

I am glad to see the Empire prospering once more. For the next head of fhe Senate, I strongly recommend building an assault fleet. We must stop the constant harassment of our worlds. We need to make good use of the money we are now earning to construct our Invasion ships, which should be the best we can field. Cosf should be no barrier to the design of these ships, as they are what will make or break our attacks on alien clusters.

The Mining Czar has positioned us well. I appreciate the Imperator of War's zeal, though perhaps he's a bit too enthusiastic to spend. He may leave us like a young man the morning after his first visit to a Spice Hall, a bit hungover.
While I favor many inexpensive fighter, when it comes to invasion craft, I agree with my fellow senator Aurelius, build the best your technology will allow, money should be no object.
