I gotta be honest I want some merchant and or smuggler focused upgrades-- you military types are hogging all th glory.
Perhaps something that nullify or lessens your negative rep when breaching trade agreement.

I guess since Advanced Naval Bridge and pilot officer stack we might as well consider having such an upgrade that stacks with trade officer.

One thing you can do for now is to get a very high military rank with factions. It will make you immune to trade embargoes, but it is very expensive to achieve, so may not be worth it.

my embargo's got so crazy I could only buy and sell at the independents, every time I went to the exchange, the political officer piped up about some embargo, I only ignored the ones about Cadar, they hate my in that game, like -470 now

Nah, he just has to fire torpedos at them with friendly inscriptions. Communicate with the Cadar in their own language.

To make the Cadar temporarily speechless, just show them small hot dogs and TP. Shuts them right up real quick. Then you might want to play dodge the torp once they get their senses back

Perhaps something that nullify or lessens your negative rep when breaching trade agreement. That would really reduce the amount of fun in the game ... I'm going to avoid Upgrades that remove fun or mechanics, we're looking more for Upgrades that enhance the game or help players scale with or against the mechanics.

An Arboretum maybe. Provides morale bonus for carrying plants. Only for crew counts above 50. Increases resistance to boarding.

multiple step contracts perhaps in game upgrades when you fulfill exact and exacting criteria

Multiple step contracts will be features in Star Traders 2, but aren't something that the game engine would let us add to ST RPG.
Thanks for the feedback, very excited to see people asking for things that are already supported in ST2.
