Overall I love all the gear that's available in HoS. That said something I don't like is how many items with different names but the exact same bonuses there are. If an item is going to have a different name then it also needs to have slightly different bonuses as well in my opinion. Otherwise we're just padding out the numbers and diluting the loot pool. Current party Kincaid has a Warding Cloak +4 Armor, +2 Unholy Resist, +2% SP Drain. Selen has a Footfall Cloak exact same bonuses. Kjartan has on a Firegleam Stone +4 Fire Dmg, +2 Fire Resist, +2 Ice resist, and I've got a Serpent's Torque in inventory with exact same bonuses. Singed Arm Guard with +4 Fire Dmg, +4 Fire Resist is same as Bracers of the Dog or some such. I've seen at least 3 different names for Rings with +8 Max HP, +2 Armor. The list goes on and on of these types of duplicates. Bad enough when my RNG keeps giving me multiple copies of the same items, it gets even worse when I get 4 copies of an item with one name and 3 more with different names but exact same benefits.
Again I love all the variety of gear in game, just get tired of finding all these duplicates instead of something with at least slightly different benefits.
My wish at some future date is to see these items with different names have their bonuses get at least a minor tweak to make them all different in more than name.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm sorry to hear that you're disappointed with the items we've created.
We will try to improve over the next couple of releases. Thank you for your post.

Thanks for putting it on the wishlist! With 634 items on the Heroes list now, hopefully we'll get there some day.

Please don't get me wrong you've created an excellent assortment of items and I'm very happy with them. My disappointment is just the duplication of abilities on gears of exact same type that the only difference is the name given for it.

It's not an intentional creation. I guess it's what happens when you create 9,000+ weapons, armor, and gears.

If you want I can take screen shots of the items and send to you, don't know if that would be helpful or just clog up your inbox. Regardless this is extremely low priority compared to all the other stuff you guys are doing so I'm happy with it being at the bottom of the list for foreseeable future.

xdesperado - if we are able to get to it on the list, we have a way that we could isolate duplicates on our end. Just hours of time to dedicate.

The reason why it is possible to get duplicate names is mostly because of loot tier.
When you are at the start of episode 1 you might get a rare loot roll giving you a +8 dmg ring with the name smackeyjackey and then later in episode 1 the +8 dmg ring has become uncommon and is called boppideeboo.
Incase of your cloaks, 1 of them is from a chest that is hidden and the reward for finding that chest is getting a cloak that is rather high tier compared to the average finds. The other cloaks are the cloaks you can just get randomly from chests.
All in all I don't think duplicate loot or same loot different name is an issue. You can be a bit unlucky which means that the game might be a bit more frustrating when you cant find upgrades but loot does not make the character it is the build that defines that. In the rare case where an item might define the build (Heartbeat of spring) it will be 100% obtainable if you want to. With regards as to getting multiples in some cases it will be rather shitty but there are cases where multiple characters will benefit from the same item and then duplicates will be the shizzle. In episode 4 I had a moment where I found a 2nd cloak with +120 max hp, +5% crit, +9% sp drain and I was like: "Yes!" Some items have that winning combination while others will just be turned to gold.
Aside from all this episode 1 has no random loot that can have a huge impact and in episode 2 the loot that can have a big impact is the loot from Vurnak. Episode 3 offers some +50 holy damage incantations if you go out of your way to collect them and on higher difficulties they will have a huge impact other then that random loot from ep 3 won't have a huge impact. Items like staff of Nahanna, Heartbeat of Spring are 100% and the items from hunter's lodge aswell. Episode 4 has insane items and due to it being the last episode this is where you want the rng gods to be nice to you. Everything before that is just icing on the cake.

Well, even if loot items have the same stats, but the sell price in shops usually is different. So now it's fit perfectly like treasure reward rise balancing with level.

I briefly thought of bringing it up, but am perfectly happy thinking about them as items made and named by different creators or regionalisms/dialect differences. "A rose by any other name..." My personal preference order is: 1. Squash major bugs i.e. anything making it unplayable in some way or at some point or missing story that should be there already etc. 2. Fix the few remaining talents weaknesses like SaS. 3. Episode 4 content. 4. Awesomer art stuff like new Vraes and Tam. 5. Other stuff... Not that my opinions matter much. They're not that strongly held anyway. Rashar try playing without anything but the starting items equipped... Items are important - item names not so much, except for world continuity in property language. NB, specifically refuting this only: "...but loot does not make the character it is the build that defines that." The rest of your analysis I agree with...

wascalwywabbit Huh? What did I miss? (ah nevermind I posted before your edit) Well I did not say items aren't important, but the difference between having a +4 parry +4 dodge item or the more rare +6 parry +6dodge +6armor will not make or break your character. I am not saying to just equip your heroes with random stuff, obviously you complement the build with items that go along with it but if you have +2mp boots or +2mp +2 dodge the difference is small enough to be neglected if you're unlucky.

Specifically referencing this: "...but loot does not make the character it is the build that defines that." Added a note to the end of my original comment. Just me being overly contrarian to a single sentence segment which was not your overall point.

Rashar I've had multiples of these items during many play throughs (this is my 8th attempt with current party alone at making a respectable NMI run.) Despite the different names they sell for the exact same prices and none of them are unique, special items, or somehow got lucky on some sort of random roll for benefits. Couple examples, the Sages Band (first ring found in web during escape from Red Hill) and the Redglimmer Ring both give +8SP and +2 Armor. So far party has sold 4 Sages Bands and 3 Redglimmer Rings for 4GP each. Serpent's Torque and Firegleam Stone (both amulets) +4 Fire Dmg, +2 Fire Resist, +2 Ice resist. Have found and sold multiples of both so far for 4GP each. There are more along the same line. Also Gear regardless of episode is very important to how well your party does. Yes having a solid group build as far as attributes, skills and talents is important but finding good gear that supports your builds is a big boost early and becomes very important as you progress further into the game especially when making a NMI run. wascalwywabbit has a very good priority list and I agree that this belongs at very bottom of the list.

xdesperado Lurk was the one mentioning different prices not Rashar. PS Rashar, isn't it called heartbeats of summer? I think you're the only one I see calling it "...of spring". Although that might give the TBs an idea, it certainly does me... HEARTBEATS OF ALL THE SEASONS!!! Pretty please fallen I know I'm incorrigible... :-p
