Well I'm coming off of my most successful trip through Kaldun on Ironman. We had no deaths and only one close call and were comfortably under the turns. I finished the first level with 4 templars in shut down, but that was for their first time and was carefully calculated to launch my Captain into the final sprint for the exit. Anyways I just wanted to share one little pro-tip that I found myself using and that I think contributed to my success. It's a small thing but, on the second level of Kaldun, small things make a big difference.
Basically the tip is that when you're sprinting and need to get a Templar somewhere in a hurry (say your engineer to cap that TP one turn earlier), you should use other templars to open doors for him/her. Planning out, who is going to open doors ahead of time can end up getting you ahead a turn and accomplishing things with less heat. You can either use a Templar who is next to the door to kick it in while someone else charges through, or you can use a templar with enough AP to open and pass through before your runner. Either-way in tight passages with lots of doors this can make a huge difference and staying one step ahead of a Goliath or Spitter can easily save you a Templar.

Also note that Turrets can open doors.

You mean the engineer stuffed inside the turret right? This is off topic but I also discovered that humans like Marielle Throll can also partake of Reactor Jolt Ordinance.

OK
That thing about turrets got me wondering though. Can they work switches like the ones in the first Stratos level?

I found that turrets can also receive buffs. Not sure if this is intentional, but it sure is interesting! And I also discovered that the titan bomb in Alien Vessel: Bomb Escort can receive speed buffs too. I only found out about this during my latest Replay+, so I didn't quite take it to its logical conclusion, but buffing it with Pressing Need allowed me to complete the level in 8 turns (MP 5). The last turn was only 2 squares short of the edge of the black pit, so had I respec'd my captain with higher-level Pressing Need and stacked Dalan's Rallying Charge on top of that, I could probably have significantly cut down the number of turns even more, maybe to 6 turns or less.

Yes, we've decided to leave Buffs in for Turrets and the Lev Rigs carrying bombs and things. I've updated the Lev Rig so that it won't take Reactor Jolts as of v2.4.35 (release after next).

Thanks for the feedback. We discussed the Lev Rig issue during our Alpha test with the dedicated backers who supported the game during the early days, and while we decided not to make the change now, we have gotten back around to it. Part of that is the new variety in ordnances.

fallen, Cory Trese - Well, now I'm confused lol. On the Titan bomb level, there's no TP I've seen, so there's no Reactor Jolt available anyway. I speed and armor buff the Lev rig as well as of now. Turrets taking buffs has always made sense to me; you're improving its armor, accuracy, etc. Humans accepting buffs made sense as well. I can see prohibiting Reactor Jolt, as humans don't have Reactors. You could make a case buffs and/or Ordnance don't apply to humans as they don't wear Leviathans, but where do you draw the line? Marielle can heal a Knight, or we can heal/buff human infantry as it stands now, for example. After 2.4.35 update, what exactly will happen to this dynamic? Thank you in advance for your reply.

capthawk There is a TP on the NE of the map, on the right-hand fork on the way to the black pit. Capturing it is actually a secondary objective.

It's northeast of the starting position Aha, this explains much, lol. I can't belive I've never gone over there, I remember going straight north the very first time ever, then just running the route. Thanks alot, bro!
