That's really cool. I know though that if I bought it, it would be out of date by years by the time I got round to looking at it  ... man I need to get a personal organizer. Someone who organizes me personally. My wife is my financial controller and I don't think she wants the added functions to her role description. |

grävling No problem. I've been a Hamster Republican for ... sixteen years, now? Did some work on a few games that were being produced by the HR with OHRRPGCE, but haven't done game dev for them in quite a few years now. You ought to check out some of the games we released over at rpg.hamsterrepublic.com/ohrrpgce/Where_can_I_find_games%3F. Far as I know, they're all entirely free to play. Edit: I almost forgot. Social media, patent trolls, copyright trolls -- they're all out to get you from the minute you release your first game. Yep~! I learned NWScript, which is based from C, for doing game dev'ing in Neverwinter Nights. I've been doing on/off stuff in both scripting and toolset for a number of years for both myself and a certain ...adult.... NWN Server, mostly map-building and creature / placeable design. There's always someone trying to grab credit for this or that, though since it's all free, there's less legal problems that crop up. |

I'm certainly not saying you need to be able to code to make a game. My point was just that you need to realize you're going to have to learn -- even if you use a prepackaged engine there is scripting, tools, etc to learn ... and from there you're going to start learning to code  |

Cory Trese Point taken! I suppose even the OHRRPGCE has a TINY bit of coding involved - though it can barely be called such. Game variables get set by various events, but you don't actually code those - the engine does based on your needs, which it learns through a quick Q&A for each event. Dialogue is the closest you get to coding; gets handled by a sort of IF-THEN-PRINT sort of BASIC functionality, while checking said variables. You have to build it by hand but it's even simpler than BASIC, which I don't think qualifies as true coding. ^_^ Like, when building a monster, there's options for specified variables to get changed at things such as OnDeath. Then you'd just put in a simple IF VARIABLE Z THEN PRINT X AND SET A=C ELSE PRINT Y into some dialogue to check if that monster's dead yet, and unlock a door if it is, for example. Hardly true coding, in my book. Simplicity itself - though it could be that my view's tainted since I literally grew up using BASIC from the time I was six.
