We are in a happy habit now of pre-sharing plans about big things coming for any of our games, especially if there is an IAP involved. So, here goes!
For some time, we have been working on a Heroes of Steel crafting system. Upon visiting any of the smiths in the world, you'll have the option to work on a crafting project with that smith. The input to the crafting system will be:
The crafting process is basically an improvement + enchantment. You'll get back a weapon / armor / shield of the same type, with similar stats but some improvements to these stats. While the stat improvements are a nice start, the real bonus is the enchantment. The armament will come back with magical properties attached to it (+2% Critical, +6 Lit Dmg).
The only input you will have on the type of magical properties attached to the item is to sacrifice another item to the crafting. This magical item will be consumed (destroyed) during the process, but its magical properties will be used to tune the magical properties that you get back in the crafting. Therefore, if you had a mundane sword, wanted a Lighting Sword, you could give the Sword + 2 Bloodstones + a Ring that has +Lightning Damage. You may not get a Lighting Sword, but you are going to get a result that is as closely matched to the Ring as possible. So, for example, if the Ring was +Lit and +Crit, then you might end up with a +Crit / + SP Drain sword instead.
The crafting process will not provide visibility into the recipes (what you put in, what you can get out), nor specifics about how tuning works. However, the results of the crafting will be good items, in comparison to those that can be looted at the same time in the dungeon. Of course, you'll be able to agonize whether you should craft now, or hold on to your Bloodstones to craft later. The quality of the items will help make it appealing to craft now!
We are considering adding an IAP called a Bloodstone Pack -- it is a one time purchase (not consumable) which will grant +20 Bloodstones to every group (new group and historical group). One time, not consumable. Fun for crafting more.
One question we have -- how many Bloodstones do you have, and where is your group now?
Other than that, we'd love to hear your thoughts on our plan.

- One mundane weapon, armor, shield
- Either 2 or 3 Bloodstones, based on the item you offer for crafting
- Optionally, a magical item of any kind to tune the crafting
