Finally getting around to reading this. Good stuff. It feels very much like the game. How often do we have to choose to do things we don't really want to do, because all the other options are worse. At the end of the day, the ship has to keep flying and that is the bottom line.

I'm really enjoying this, Queen. I'm assuming Roach hasn't been flying long as she's still in the Vae. What a rough spot to find herself in so early in her career!
You portray the grittiness and savagery of the Quadrant well, in a way that translates game elements into fiction. I really like the dynamic of Roach's moral dilemma over the slaves vs. the need to return that same employer to keep those sweet, sweet credits rolling in. The space battle and Spice Hall descriptions are top notch. Loved the "I spice to remember, I spice to forget" line.
You really left me with the sense something big is about to happen, involving Jemms, slaves, the ship and crew and of course Roach and her mysterious patron!

Just posting to say I'm still working on it. I got a few chapters sitting back and waiting for editing, but I all ready know they're going to need minor rewrites too. In other words, I'm going to reach the end first and then rewrite and and edit before posting. The good news is that you guys will get a better story. The bad news is that you'll have to wait a while. But know I haven't dropped the story. |

My problem right now is that one scene I wrote just kinda sits there, and it might make more sense if I simply took it out. More importantly, like three chapters are basically scripts and my ending is a bit of a mess at the moment, so... Chaos. Chaos and mayhem. Why am I doing this to myself??? |
