Do wealthy families also have slaves, or are the slaves used only on the black market? I'd like to know as much as I can about the slaves for my story. I'm also open to hearing any theories from everyone else!

Well, from the point of realism, they should have slaves they bought on black market

Considering people openly talk about having slaves in Halls (see "Syndicate Sponsored Operation" rumor), slavery in some circumstances is apparently legal.
Here's a wild guess: Debt slavery is the only legal form of slavery. If you have a debt you can't pay off, you can be forced to work for your debtor until the value of your debt is compensated.

Speaking of slaves, I would definitely love to find a female hug slave Umm I mean cute girl I could give a long, loving hug to :3 Just a pity that I am only 1/64th a noble... And that I am poor like a church rat... I have no right for a cute little slave

Debt slavery is a good idea (in game, not real life!). That would explain a lot of things.

I would also imagine that punitive or for-sale slavery (non-indentured at any rate) would be **extremely** illegal on almost any faction/syndicate planet, so my guess is that mainly independent systems and backwoods faction systems would be the ones taking the risk.

I wonder if you could get around that rule by not buying the slave directly, but buying "their debt" and therefore their service. I might explore that route. Thanks Enigma!

What's worse, there are actually no lies in that AFAIK... The only thing I don't know is whether I am a 1/64th of a noble or 1/128th of a noble...

Meh, nobility of character is more worth than mere birthright/ancestry. I'll take a kind, intelligent peasant over a cruel, stupid noble any day of the week. Lasting romance starts with self honesty and self correction. Temporary trysts require neither... Many of both genders do indeed value money, height, handsomeness/beauty and health. But there are enough that prize humour, kindness, helpfulness, honesty, cleanliness etc which are notably more controllable for most. Intelligence is partly effected by effort at least as much as money can be, so if not one maybe the other. Control what good you can and be open and observant to the necessary passage ways between hopes and potential reality. If you can't see a path connecting a hope to a reality then you'll have to put your trust in unseen factors - perhaps less certain, but oft more serendipitous. -I have pronounced experience in this, trust my words more than those whose fancies lead them nowhere certain or happy, those who confuse excitement (which oft crashes to anger at their former 'beloved' like a vice) for real joy.

It's still quite weird that I have seriously meant a hug slave, not a "hug" slave :3 After all... I have stronger urges to hug and cuddle than to do anything else.

It's still quite weird that I have seriously meant a hug slave, not a "hug" slave :3 After all... I have stronger urges to hug and cuddle than to do anything else. I know... the comic was to lighten any pretension hangover felt from my previous post. Not a knock on you. Closeness can relieve or cause anxiety and loneliness both for both. It depends on mutual feelings for the positive effects for sympathetic hearts. I won't go into the stuff about creeps cause we all probably know about it. Suffice to say some dudes need their testicles smashed Roman style. Since closeness can relax the nerves and blood vessels (blood and nerves are very important to the gendered areas),it can trigger a cascade into arousel, especially if smell is involved. So just hugs don't tend to stay that way, especially if protracted and private as in cuddling. It may seem odd but working/playing in healthy soil help tame some of the electro-chemical receptors on the body too. Work in general occupies the body and mind, though nobody works, or should, all their waking hours... Good shows and books etc. which show healthy relationships can also serve a purpose of vicarious experience. All the while keep a look out while you improve yourself more and more into who you want to be. That type of slavery to each other should be willing and mutually beneficial and engaging. ...There are always weirder ways too such as internet hug and cuddle services, don't know if they're in you country but advertisements happen in the US sometimes, most are for pay though, lonely rich folk I guess... I have seen a few stories of volunteer huggers on certain days too... Not my cup'o'tea but have seen here and there on the net. Some just snuggle their pets. I read once that cultures that paired kids as groups of 4-5 friends as friend groups for life have better life expectancy and happier lives to boot. You've got options, it just can take time and effort for the best ones to become more likely. Anyway, if serious sadness strikes find some humor in it or something tangential, it often helps.
