Umm, I'm going to get nit-picky here, but in the other Legality thread, you clearly said that Permission and Legality are different things. While I understand the difference, having "Permit Restricted" listed under the Legality heading may still be confusing for new players (unless you have explanations elsewhere). Also, I noticed that the Legality level is no longer displayed anywhere on screen. This is key information for a Trader though, as whether to buy something or not hinges on how easy it is to sell it elsewhere. Oooh. good catch athios.

athios - thanks for the post. The filter icon in the Legal column allows you to show Illegal items that are not for sale here. The legality value is displayed in the right hand side now.

Great, thanks!
(Btw, I really love how on this forum, the community can have semi-realtime dialogue. Very cool!)

Note: fallen Cory Trese I need a short lesson on what the difference is between 'common metal' and 'common ore', given that both come from mining worlds. I hesitate to say that common metal is refined ore, because that would imply taking the ore to a refining world, and thus picking up common metals at refining worlds. Which is wrong. They are mining world products. Can I say that common metal is what you get when you process common ore locally? Or ....

My take on them is that Common Metal is stuff like Iron that you can mine and needs little refining for basic use. Common Ore would be something like Bauxite which is the claylike Ore that gets refined into Aluminium. Aluminium is a common metal but requires a refinery process to create, low grade iron on the other hand is readily obtainable with little to no refining needed.

we have ore, refined ore, metal, and refined metal. for each of these 4 types the adjectives common, rare and very rare. now, some of these are also 'scarce'. I am confused.
also what the heck are crystals and why does everybody and his dog want some, but not a lot? It's not cystal meth, you dig these things out of the ground, it seems.

They are mining world products. It's possible that what you are assuming is correct, and that some of the goods are just assigned to the wrong type of settlement. Aren't Crystals what they use for making/repairing Solar Sails? [and speaking of Sails, how come there is no mention of ST2 ships having these?]

I think it will make this clear as they are named. Common Metal and Common Ore can be confused to be the same thing, but really, think of that like Iron (common) and Bauxite Ore (common)

[and speaking of Sails, how come there is no mention of ST2 ships having these?] Crystals are used in all sorts of industrial operations. Historically, they were used in the production of the Solar Sails from ST RPG. However, it has been centuries, and technology has moved on. Hyperwarp Drives and Void Engine enhancements have knocked Solar Sails out of use. grävling - you've done amazing work!
