Is there someway the motivation engine can be tweaked so as not to give a character contradictory traits?
Was looking at my crew and currently have an officer with Iron Spine, Rigidly Lawful and Spice Addict. Know last two are not implemented and while it's amusing to see/think of the uptight self-righteous Officer being a secret addict not sure that the game mechanics can handle this.

I think the mechanics will be able to handle this fine. These people certainly do exist, bold contradictions can be found in all walks of life.

I suspect the game mechanics can handle that one, but somebody who is both Rigidly Lawful (50% chance Morale loss when crew is spiced) and Seedy (At home in the Spice Hall, gain +20% Morale bonus when Spicing) needs the attention of a shrink right away. Some of these combinations make me think and smile so much.

I think s/Authority Figure/Reveres Authority/ as well unless you like 'Sycophantic Toady' even better, of course. Updated.

I rolled a new captain. Starter crew had 2 people with Inspiring (+2 charisma), and Brute. Hmm. I've worked with people like that. We keep shaking our heads and saying 'why do we put up with this?' .... but we do.

Would an Inspiring Brute eventually cause other crew to become Brutes when they grow up?

Teacher's Pet
You get significant + bonuses in your attributes. But the rest of the crew hates you/ feels inferior and suffers morale loss.

Creature of Habit: Contributes an extra [wisdom]% of character skills to ship skill tests, but XP is gained 20% slower I imagine this would have a meta score of 0.
Edit: I got another one. Libertarian: Extra morale gains in the Spice Hall on worlds with low Law.

Libertarian: Extra morale gains in the Spice Hall on worlds with low Law. Libertarian? Do you mean perhaps Libertine?

Libertarian: Extra morale gains in the Spice Hall on worlds with low Law. Libertarian? Do you mean perhaps Libertine? Libertarianism is a political philosophy that advocates minimal necessary laws in a government, which is I thought the name "Libertarian" made sense for a trait that gives extra morale gains in a low Law spice hall.

I think it is low-GOV world that would please the libertarians more. But then Law is Trade law, and not Law-and-Order, so, I dunno. They aren't ones for trade restrictions. If you made a High Law Free Enterprise planet -- We're going to have Laissez-faire captilalism! And defend it at gunpoint! With local volunteer militias! -- You will make a certain sort of libertarian very, very happy ....

resistor : I gotcha. I was thinking Libertine more as in, lower morals or perhaps more hedonistic

Perhaps "trait-izing" political, um, philosophy is not a really good idea.
