Could there be a trait that gives access to dual wielding swords? Maybe it would be too OP if someone could dual wield two regular swords, but having a trait that gives access to both a sword and off-hand blade in combat would be cool.

Very cool idea, if extremely expensive to implement, animate and balance

Timid Indecisive Clumsy Deviant Devious Lazy Distracted Narcissistic = 20% chance of being distracted in battle because of seeing his/her own reflection
and have we got Stupid? --> none too bright, but keen to give things ago. Charges enthusiastically but not always in the right direction

Just my take on these:
Timid = -Initiative Indecisive = -Initiative or command? Clumsy = % chance of causing injury to self or others or damage to the ship. Deviant = Small % chance of causing -faction rep when spiced (yeah your crew did THAT in our spice hall) Devious = Maybe same as above. Maybe chance of + morale gain that causes an equal or bigger loss in someone else. Lazy = -1 all skills. Distracted = -Evasion ("oh look a daisy" THWACK) Narcissistic = 20% chance of being distracted in battle because of seeing his/her own reflection Stupid = less xp gain.
And a few more. Dilligent = small percent chance of a skill save in any skill they possess. Vigilant = Small percent chance of a skill save in any ship skill test. Day Dreamer = small percent chance to fail an already passed test. Cosmopolitan = Morale gain on large pop or econ worlds and/or loss on low pop/econ worlds Back Water = opposite of above. Agile = 5%-10% Dodge and Parry bonus might mutate into acrobatic. Boorish = - morale in others when spicing. Flippant = % chance of faction rep loss when spicing. Brawler = small % chance of crew combat resulting from spicing. Perhaps with boosts to str. res. or for.? It would be great if the combat for this would be with fists only or maybe bottles for range and would almost never result in death. Keen = % chance of gaining wisdom when leveling. Socialite = % chance of learning a rumor or gaining a contact on landing? (Now we could have a highbrow, cosmopolitan socialite.) Renaissance man = percent chance of gaining a random skill increase or +1 all skills (sorry couldn't find a good non-gendered form) Flighty = percent chance of a random skill loss. Handy = + repair Red Green Handy = Mega repair bonus

Also just plugged "Robust" into the thesaurus and got a lot of great words that could be used for various types of damage resist.
Sturdy: Fire and Radiation resist Beefy: Radiation and Plasma resist Vigorous: Toxin and Radiation resist Stout, Hardy, Cast-Iron, Burly,Built, Strapping, Stalwart, Husky
Lots of goodness here.

Don't worry the mutation engine is coming! If you just fight a few xeno, you'll have a chance of changing those for things like xenophobic, acid burnt or jaded.

As a lazy daydreamer, I'd like to point out that I start with too many negatives. Pls fix. Not a bug - you're perfect as you are. All those hardworking focused people - what do they have to show for their efforts. They come up with practical solutions for every day things. Us daydreamers - we come up with fantastical solutions to problems that might not even exist in reality. I say that we, lazy daydreamers, use far more of our creative urges than those more practical than us.

I've been trying to think of traits that aid in ship combat
Battle Station Affinity - [10+Wisdom]% chance to not activate Talent cooldown when using a Talent in ship combat (must be a Talent belonging to this crewman, not another crewman's Talent)
Naval Zeal - Gains 4-8 morale and HP on ship combat victory

I would really love to see extremely rare Chef officers that might even have to be gained uniquely through story events (they would focus on crew morale and combat), but due to it's impracticality maybe there could just be a Chef trait that would improve crew morale somehow even when they're just in deep space.

Narcissistic = 20% chance of being distracted in battle because of seeing his/her own reflection should rename this one to "Cat Mentality" lol

My names aren't that great, but here are more Contact Traits:
Data Broker — 20% higher pay for Intel, 20% more influence gained from Intel
Talent Pool — better quality Recruits (base attributes, level, or traits)
Glowing Recommendations Has extra fancy stationery and fluorophore-infused recommendation letters. — Introductions automatically grant a small amount of Personal Rep with the new Contact
Volatile Position — the Contact is more susceptible to Influence changes; changes in either direction are 20% larger than usual
Quick to Forget Who are you again? What have you done for me lately? — both positive and negative Personal Rep resets to neutral (zero) faster than usual
