In response to the Unlawful and Criminally Negligent Behaviour -- where Spice-Hopped Military Pilots crashed into our Starport laying waste to 90% of it -- all Spice sales are suspended at this time except for those who really have a medical need for it. And no, ' I will get very unhappy if I don't get my spice' does not count as a medical need! All violators to be jailed. We've still got lots of prisons. (And if we run out, we'll just space you.) Seriously, Your Government

I am confused If you are laughing then that is all that is required. Some of the odd places I find are indications of bugs with the code that generated them, but some of them are just funny.

Heheheh, ok, re-read for laughs and not bug report I would assume that the crushing totalitarian prince and his crazy Trade Laws have eventually squeezed this place dry of both spice and the strength required to have a functioning starport. We've taken your suggestion from another thread and are switching Law over to Trade Law as that is clearer language.

Then you might also want to change Gov to Bureaucracy.

Gov could be the same, or alternatively, Prince.

The thing is that governments come with their own set of loaded conventions -- we want more, we want less, totalitarianism is bad -- but a nice scandinavian-style government-heavy social democracy is a good thing -- hell no the last thing I want is any sort of socialism, and what about taxation?!
None of which I think is relevant to ST2. "Do you have enough government to be worth spying upon and can we get socialised medical treatment here" seem to be the main questions. Thus all we care is 'is there enough going on that it has generated a civil service, and if so how big is the bureacracy?' as far as I can tell from the outside. You could be Stalinist, free-market capitalist, socialist, syndicalist, communist, or libertarian-anarchist, hell reinvent nationalistic feudalism -- and why should we Star Traders care? We don't have to live in the stinking grav places! We have the SKY!

We don't have to live in the stinking grav places! We have the SKY! I think Prince would sun that up nicely, as it adheres to the lore that the Planetary government is ruled by the Prince, as well as demonstrating how much power over the rest of the gravs the Prince has.

Ah, I thought how much power the Prince had was an independent question. If they are linked, for sure it is a good idea. But since I keep finding via Merchant talents utterly powerless Princes stuck in wretched poverty on independent worlds, I am not used to thinking that Prince == Powerful. (Just would like to be.)

Well power over the world would be very different from power in the overall structure of the Faction, from what the lore doc draft says.

But the question is 'would "Prince" be a good replacement for "Gov"'? 'Gov' is less that ideal because it already means way too many things to everybody, most of which are not relevant to Star Traders who are evaluating a planet. 'Prince' I think has the other problem. It doesn't mean _enough_. Why should a 'High Prince' world heal your crew very well, whereas a 'Low Prince' world not heal them well, and a '0 Prince' world not heal them at all?

Society or Civilization perhaps? Is a planets Society or Civilization rating high enough to be worth Spying on and to support a Technologist Doctor at the Spice Hall.

+1 for Society. Not so fond of Civilization here.

Gov here is used in the same places that "Palace" was used in ST RPG.

Gov here is used in the same places that "Palace" was used in ST RPG. Which isn't going to help people who have never played STRPG, alas, and I want boatloads of them to try this game. Social Infrastructure?
