We have this new feature for smugglers, the Black Market. It lets you buy/sell illegal goods.
Trying to think of a good name for it. I'm not huge fan of "Black Market" but I'm not sure what conveys it fully.
Any ideas?

I'm not huge fan of "Black Market" but I'm not sure what conveys it fully. Any ideas? I like the term Black Market, as it sums up what it is nicely for new players. But if you want a different name, maybe call it the Underground/Illicit Exchange?

I like Contraband Market myself. Bootleg Market might also work. If these do not cover it properly, explain what is left out (or is left in that belongs out) so we can understand better, and come up with better words.

Bootleg seems to imply counterfeit or illicit goods, rather than access to a shady dealer?

* Black Market * Smuggler's Market * Contraband Market * Underground Exchange * Smuggler's Exchange

* Black Market * Smuggler's Market * Contraband Market * Underground Exchange * Smuggler's Exchange I think the name should be Market rather than Exchange, since the Exchange is the legally recognized market for Star Traders.

In current usage, bootleg is most often used to mean counterfeit, or at least made illegally. This is a relatively recent change. Historically, 'bootlegger' used to just mean 'smuggler'. And it was weapons, not liquor they first traded in. www.etymonline.com/index.php?term=bootleg So perhaps it is the Bootlegger's Market that we are interested in?

And a shady dealer is a Fence. So we could click on the 'Fence goods' button and have a contact that is a 'Fence'. We may not need a noun so much as a verb.

As "Fence" is also a CK term it would further prove that Star Trading Cyber Knight Heroes of Steel Song is the final game to which the TB's are working towards

Underground market or maybe spice market or a fence goods button as part of the spice hall.

How well-established (in the criminal world) are these places where you can fence illegal goods? The Exchange, the Starport, and the Spice Halls are the sort of places that would be found on any local map. Is the illegal goods place the sort of thing that has been going on at the same location (which the authorities turn a blind eye to, probably because they are bribed to do so) for years, generations even? Then it, too, could show up on the right sort of maps, and be the sort of place that 'everybody knows where it is' -- sort of like red light districts in much of the world today. Prostitution is illegal, but everybody knows where to go, for all that.
The other end of things is like Nathan Detroit's permanent floating craps game, in Guys and Dolls. There the location has to change, constantly, because the police -- or some of the police, at any rate -- would dearly love to arrest all the craps players. You have to be in the know to know where the game is, tonight, and Nathan has to keep finding new places to hold the event, always one step ahead of the authorities.
If Smuggling is to work more like that, then this is an argument that this is not a market at all. How do things work? Are there booths where happy smugglers all start haggling with each other as they attempt to make deals? Is it social? Or is it secretive -- psst, go to this address and somebody will be able to see you in some sort of smokey backroom, and this is the price you can get for your goods, take it or leave it?

What about the term "Bazaar"? These are typically nomadic or semi permanent markets. I could see how when a particular planet or orbital station has a huge amount of traders at one time, they all start just dealing directly with each other. Too many traders to check on makes it hard for the exchange authorities to keep up with checks because of lack of man power so lots of goods that normally have restrictions slip through.

No reason to beat around the bush, Smuggler's Market.
Kind of like Explore for Explorer.

No reason to beat around the bush, Smuggler's Market. Kind of like Explore for Explorer. Are Smugglers the only Job Class that can access these? Will a Stealth check or other condition be involved? I like Underground Market/Bazaar. But I agree, proper term depends how organized this thing is.
