I start at BB instead of TR just because it avoids the runs to Yakashima, and pays a bit more. But I'm not sure how much that matters. I think the key is trying to keep your movement in zones where your rep helps keep the heat down I start with TR and take the escort to Aztec job. Then go to BB and get the escort to Mars job. I go back and forth between them and ended up with 20k before I had to bail. By bouncing between just 2 zones it makes it easy to keep the heat down because you are doing jobs for both corps.

I assume that the lack of taxi support for this path is the official answer to it? I can't seem to make nearly as much on this set of runs as you guys - in a typical Day 1, I get ~8k.
Am I doing it wrong, or just not getting as lucky?

Yes, you can only get 8000 or so on Day 1. To get more you need to continue into Day 2, preferably by using drugs to stay awake. Apparently CK recalculates the difficulty while you sleep, so the idea is to do as much as you can before sleeping, the get out of Dodge--er, Corp land.
However, the overall difficulty of Corp land appears to have gone up since this thread was last updated. Day 1 is still absolutely safe, but going into Day 2 has become a lot riskier, even before your first sleep. So I recommend going only a little bit into Day 2 before quitting Corp land. I don't play the easy modes (Go Brutal!), so I don't know exactly how difficult those modes are. But I would guess there is a better than 50% chance of getting caught by a brute squad within the first 6-8 hours of day 2 in Brutal, which is almost invariably deadly.

The game has gotten harder. I used to be able to make 12K, but now 8K is about it. At least on brutal. I am not sure how it works for the other levels.

@ahab and grävling - the main "day 1" mystery is that you won't get Encounters on the first 24 hours or so. So, if you go on a major drug binge, you might do better in your "accelerated start" than if you stop at a hotel the first time you are Exhausted. With Rumors and Conflicts, things have definitely gotten more dicey.

I was wondering about that 24 hours myself. It used to be that I could acquire and do 1 mission more when the first 1 red bar showed up. Now, it is mostly better off that you sleep and abandon them. At ~2k an escort and a 2 job computer, the difference between 'these and get 2 more' and 'quit now' is the not too surprising 4k.

Hey Gravling:
I've been trying to follow the guide so I can get a little deeper into the CK world but I am having a really hard time finding Taxis or anything that will transport me to the places specified on the guide: TR and BB for example
When I walked I hit a huge wall and couldn't get through to Mars controlled area.
Do I have to have ELITE version? Am I missing something?
Thx for the time :-)

YOu start life in the Fenns with Benni the taxi driver already in your address book. I go to the Laughing Dog Bar, pick up Vinny the Rat's chip while I am there, and then use the phone to tell Benny to drive me to Texas Roadhouse in Beacon Hill. Is that not working for you?

On the walls--yes, there are walls in the NBZ, dividing the wealthier portions from the slums. The wealthier areas also happen to be the more dangerous ones for a Cyber Knight, due to the increased security. There are a number of ways around the walls, and a few secretive ways through them. You do not need Elite version to get around the walls, but you should be aware that it is dangerous. The people on the other side built the walls to keep people like you out.

hi, fallen. thanks. my bad, i'm an old timer, heh. Rarely use forums. But your work is great. Just trying to get a feel for forum protocol,,, my sticky shout out a short-hand for - this really helps so far. May I suggest a wish list thread folder... and a difficulty folder some day? At simple as i said elsewhere is too difficult. sorry to go off topic. newbie

@missionhill - you're doing grand. Feel free to start your own threads (as you have elsewhere) on topics that you think need attention.

NOTE: The game has matured. With the addition of the rumour system the 'one day of grace' is no longer true -- if you evesdrop on some Mars corp types, even when trying to ignore them, they will fight you. So you can still get yourself a 2 job computer or a few thousand Yen in starting cash this way, but quit before the day is done. And, as point of fact if what you want is to start the game with a fat bank balance, play Made not Born and just do assasination/captures at ~1000Y a mission. You will never make so much money for such easy work -- Los V Tunnel rats are hardly a challenge. With a rep of 75 with the Fennians you can leave even if you have been ignoring the MnB storyline. added Feb 15 2013 by Grävling Does this mean the Accelerated Start doesn't work any more? Cause I really need to get into the game, which I never seem to be able to do, and now I that I got 20 minutes together ... KICK IN THE TEETH! rabid
